If you don't have insurance or there is a problem with your insurance you may get sent here and it's not worth it. The fact that staff doesn't really talk to you and there is no counseling or questions to what brought you there, you are asked the typical 5 questions to see if your answers will lead to a bi-polar diagnose which is an easy out for the doctor. The staff are nice sometimes, but even getting a friendly attitude came after reporting a staff member for being nasty for no reason. There is a schedule of groups that you only find out if you leave the room. There is no showing you the facility, no showing you where anything is, no instructions on phone calls or visitation. The food is horrible! It's clearly canned and extremely processed with suspicion of being the food that was given to shelters and being the left overs that no one wants. They feed patients food high in sodium and high in sugar and dyes. You are free to take as much milk and juice but need to ask for water. The worst part though is that the facility has mice running around and the bathrooms are not cleaned regularly. The bathrooms were so dirty it's almost pointless taking a shower, it's like trying to clean a dirty floor with dirty mop water-might look clean but isn't. Furthermore, the doctor will put you on a medication without telling you what it is unless you ask and when you ask questions they get suspicious. The doctor is clearly either outdated with the latest psychiatric information or just has a one size fits all belief. He will constantly ask you if you want a higher dosage. There is no asking how you are doing on the medication, there is no waiting to see if it works. The way this hospital is run is a waste of time and money. Mental health needs a lot more attention and more funds to improve these facilities!
