What looks like affordable luxury from the outside quickly becomes an absolute nightmare when trying to move in and out. Please do yourself a favor, pay that extra couple hundred a month, and live in one of the Lofts a street over.
Within the first few days of moving in, we had issues with low water pressure; our washer didnât have a door latch, so it wouldnât close or work; the fridge water filter was expired, and they forgot to change it, later we would have no ice or water from the fridge because there was some mechanical issue, and the whole year that we lived there the fridge would emit a high pitch buzz that is not normal but they refused to change the unit or even help fix the issue. The heater/cooling units had expired filters and the thermostat in one of the rooms wouldnât work so they had to come replace it twice. All of the units start to rattle and make loud noises all the time. With the maintenance person coming to fix the shower head - apparently theyâre not supposed to do that and we got told that we broke a rule for that when one of their maintenance person was the one who suggested it, so their internal communication and training is very suspect. Also the parking pass and scanner we got was never provisioned correctly the first time so we couldnât get into our parking spot and had to work with the management to get that fixed. This was all within the first day or two of moving in and it gets betterâŚ.They use cheap appliances and units and blame you for them breaking down. Then they leave this for the next tenants to deal with and blame them for issues. Rinse, cycle, and repeat. So shouldnât we as tenants be subject to some sort of security deposit reimbursement because of this terrible quality assurance on behalf of the management and their team?
At least once every two weeks the fire alarm will go off at random times and continue for atleast 20 mins at a time. The exterior windows are gross and never cleaned. I donât even know where our rent and fees all go. We also noticed a pattern of misplaced and mistagged packages. Their system somehow always âbreaks downâ so theyâre having to note things down on paper. Iâd have to show tracking numbers for them to look for packages when they would tell me we didnât have any. On one occasion they lost a package and blamed it on our unit for having something to do with it. Then they went back and looked at the video from the mailroom and realized that we werenât at fault. The amenities, especially the gym always has something thatâs broken and issues with temperature regulation. For some reason they started to turn down the heat in many common areas and itâs freezing in there on most days.
You get hit with charges that were never disclosed to you when signing the lease that at the time of move out youâre subject a $245 âcleaning fee.â Want to get your security deposit back? Good luck. No shot youâre getting even close to what you put in. Even normal wear and tear is considered âdamageâ and they start to point out issues like fine scratches and dots on blinds that probably existed prior to you even moving in. When we tried to move out, they wouldnât give us proper timelines and communication So as a result, we had to pay an extra month of penalty because the person couldnât communicate the cut off date.
KEEP A PAPER TRAIL AND PICTURES OF EVERY SINGLE MOVE IN INSPECTION AND APPLIANCE AND COMPONENT IN THE APARTMENT UNIT. They use cheap appliances and units and blame you for them breaking down. Look at moisture stains on the blinds, scratches on the counters, and other fine issues. Weâre pretty sure that one of their service folks put a scratch on the fridge during the multiple times they came to move it in and out to service it. Trust me youâll be...
Read moreI don't usually post these kinds of reviews, but I suddenly feel obligated to based on my unbelievable experience here for the past few months.
I am sure many people reading this have dealt with the many stresses of living in an apartment in the NYC area. You know, landlords/management who treat you real nice up until you sign your lease and then just disappear. For example:
"My walls are leaking water?" LL: -No response until you spam call multiple numbers to get it fixed, usually weeks later-
"My packages keep getting stolen?" LL: -Doesn't do anything until literally 90% of tenants in the building complain-
"What is up with my crazy high utility bills?" LL: Eh not my problem.
I was honestly expecting the same thing when I moved in to the Enclave. I was mainly attracted to the reasonable price for the room, the nice amenities, and proximity to my work.
Well not only did I get what I needed, the Enclave completely surpassed my expectations through the absolutely amazing service provided by both the management and maintenance team.
In regards to management, the concierges have ALWAYS been extremely friendly whenever I'm passing by the desk or requesting a package pickup. They are ALWAYS trying to accommodate any request or concern I have, no matter how minor. And they ALWAYS try to keep my satisfaction in mind whenever dealing with me. They implement rules to ensure the apartment is clean and in order for every resident, which some people may dislike, but is with the overall benefits of tenants in mind. And while I don't necessarily care for the many events hosted in the apartment (except for free food), you can tell they really think about them and put work into making them successes.
In regards to maintenance, I have never had to wait for more than two days to get a request handled. And even then, it was almost always immediately addressed and IMMEDIATELY FIXED. The maintenance crew know their sh*t and have fixed my issues without breaking a sweat. Even if it's a relatively minor issue, they always treat it like a major one and are very friendly and professional throughout the whole process. These people treat it like the business that it is.
I am so happy living here that the only concern I have is that they DON'T CHANGE. Please keep this same amazing management and maintenance team, or at least ensure they carry over the same essence and energy for the years to come. My life has improved so much after moving here, that I honestly don't ever...
Read moreThree years at The Enclave, and I can truthfully say I had a remarkable time here.
Location: The location is very solid, with proximity to everything you need. Hoboken is a 20-minute walk away, and from there, you can hop on the PATH to NYC. Thereâs a Target, Acme, and Best Buy just down the street, and Newport Mall is also nearby.
Amenities: The Blue Room is cool, though I rarely saw anyone there. The pool and rooftop area are elite, though they get busy in the summer because nearby apartment residents, who donât have a pool, come over. I loved spending time up there to work, BBQ, or just get some fresh air. The gym has its ups and downs; the equipment is sufficient for basic training, and itâs never too crowded unless you go right after work. The shuttle service has its pros and cons: the drivers are greatâfriendly and efficientâbut the schedule can be inconsistent. Itâs supposed to run every 15 minutes, but it can be late sometimes. I wish they had weekend shuttles, even if it was once an hour. Parking can be limited if you donât pay for a spot. Thereâs a lot of congestion right now because theyâre currently building an apartment across the street, and the Holland Tunnel traffic can reach the area. As a bike guy, I appreciated the availability of CitiBikes. Itâs also very dog-friendly, with three nearby parks for pets, and it seems like damn near everyone in the building has a pet.
The Apartment: My wife and I started in a one-bedroom apartment. Itâs a nice space with good lighting in the living room and bedroom, somewhat high ceilings, and a spacious kitchen and bathroom. However, the closets have little to no storage room. Having a washer/dryer on-site was crucial for us, and we only had to replace the machines once in three years.
Staff: The concierge, Crystal, was our favorite. She was efficient and always greeted us with a smile when we picked up packages. The maintenance staff were also very reliable and friendly. Management changed a few times but right now, itâs been consistent.
Neighbors & Safety: In terms of safety, you need a key to access all areas. My wife and I always felt secure though. Our neighbors were always solid, and we rarely had issues with noise, unfriendliness, or anything of that nature.
Overall, I had a good experience at The Enclave. It was home for three years, and Iâm grateful for it. Ultimately, we wanted to get more space and the range for a two bedroom...
