The Salty Calf — Local services in Kalispell

I think it's important to leave positive reviews [which I do regularly] and also give feedback when an experience is disappointing. I have been trying since August to buy a meal for a Board member who just had a baby. I had driven by the Salty Calf several times and thought that would be a fun place to try out and get her a meal. I left MANY [5-6?] messages over the course of the month without a response. Finally, I got a voice mail that said the owner was getting married so had been very busy [good reason for not getting back to me] but would be in contact when she was back in the shop again. I waited a few weeks and heard nothing. So I left another message. And another. Finally today, I called for what I had decided was my last attempt. A woman answered and I explained who I am - the one who had left several messages but was hoping to order a meal for my Board member. She quickly became defensive and said, "Didn't I leave you a msg?" I confirmed she had but that she has said she would let me know when she was returned. More indignant, "Can't you just stop in the shop?" I responded that I had no idea what her hourse were, if she was ever there, and that I live in Whitefish. It was then I decided I don't need to support a local business that doesn't respond to calls and then becomes rude when a connection occurs. Super...

The Salty Calf catered breakfast for the day of our wedding and did an excellent job! Beth was easy to work with and she delivered some delicious breakfast burritos, fresh fruit, and hash browns to us at 8:00am promptly the morning of our wedding. It was a large order for all of our guests, and she delivered! She even brought sour cream, salsa, and ketchup for the burritos....

This place is phenomenal. I grew up in Kalispell and am back for a few days as I will be moving back in Spring. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement as this food is comparable to anything I would find of high quality dining in Dallas, Austin or Houston.
