Went to HF return a $2.00 item with proof of purchase on 7-17-2023. I had paid in cash for a jumbo ladder hook along with some other items on 7-5-2023. When I went to return the jumbo ladder hook, I gave the receipt and item to the sales associate (who happened to be the manager). He asked for my phone number which I gave. He punched it in his computer and asked if I was the person (name) that came up on his screen, and it was, so I said "yes." Then he asked me for my ID (driver's license) so he could scan it. I politely told him that I do not give out such information because I am worried about various companies (such as Harbor Freight) getting hacked and losing my personal information. I asked for him to try to over-ride and he said he could not. So, he told me he could not make the transaction for the return without scanning my ID. I asked if there was any way around it. He said "NO." It is not worth giving out my personal information to make a $2 return. In this day and age this kind of information along with credit card information is lost to hackers every day.
Reading the return policy on the back of the receipt, it indicates the manager to "has the right to refuse returns of any item, at any time, for any reason, regardless of receipt." This gives the manager a lot of power. Also, the policy states HF maintains a database of consumer activity and other information connected with the purchase or a return, which we use to authorize returns and may share with third parties that provide fraud prevention services. I understand that HF is trying to protect themselves from a return fraud. But come on, it was a $2 item. Since the manager could not give me my money back, I told him to keep it and left it there. It would have probably sat on my workbench till the day I died.
Thanks HF for not working with me. What if this was a big-ticket item? I guess I would have to let them scan my DL. It will be a long time before I go...
Read moreOnly 2 people working and one was outside smoking the entire time I was there and I was there well over 20 minutes trying to find what I was looking for. The manager, who was at the checkout, had a line half way into the store and couldn't seem to speed up the checkout process due to having to ask 20 questions just to check out. I had to get a crow bar so I could reach what I needed from the very top of the shelf because there were none at the spot they were supposed to be. When I finally made it to the register the guy outside, smoking the entire time, finally walked in smelling like an ashtray. When he saw how long the line was all he could do was make a dumb facial expression to the manager. The manager made an even dumber expression back to the guy and instead of the guy helping he just walked straight towards the back of the store. I would say he might have been on break, but this is how the store has been running for the last 2 years. They are just as bad at running the store as the people at the local Home Depot and I stopped going to the Home Depot because of poor to no...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. I paid 320$ for a 30 inch 5 drawer toolbox on October 29th because I was starting a new job and needed it. I was hesitant to buy it because the manager said that toolbox orders typically take 2 weeks. But whenever we went to look it up and double check she said I would have the toolbox the following Monday which was November 4th. I showed up the following Monday to pickup my toolbox and it wasn’t there. Nobody had a tracking number nobody knew anything. I have now went to the store a total of 3 times(every Monday) to pickup my toolbox. Nobody knows where it is. Had to call customer service to figure out what is going on, the store can’t cancel my order, the head honchos can’t cancel it. Customer service said my toolbox is “expected to arrive” dec 3rd literally 40 something days after I had ordered the tool box. I will never order a single thing through this company ever again. Never will I ever buy something from this store ever again. I don’t even know how this company hasn’t ran out of...
