Bake My Day Bakery — Local services in Katy

You know, I've read some of the reviews on here, and some of you just really like the bland taste of a cheap grocery store cake,...and it shows,...but I digress.

Anyway, this bakery is amazing and the nice ladies who work here definately do their best. I was shopping around for a mid size wedding cake for my cousin who was getting married and I placed the order a few weeks ahead of time. I patiently browsed their history of cake photos and found the perfect one.

I bake as well and was doing cupcakes for the event, but would not have time to bake an entire cake and get it right for the wedding with everything else I had to do as the best man. I used this place for my wife for a previous birthday and the cake was delicious, so therefore, I'm back.

The pricing they gave for a two tier wedding cake was very fair, and they had it ready at the exact time they stated they would, since I elected to get it the morning of the wedding. Please keep in mind,...this is a private bakery, they make this stuff by hand and bake it in house. If you want something cheap that was baked in a factory, frozen and shipped to a glass case in the bakery section at a store that starts with the letter "W", then just go there. They charge what they charge.

The bride and groom loved the flavor and colors. They had to match a very specific ocean teal color that they managed to nail for the flowers as well. Everything came out perfect.

With that said,....please have a plan in mind if you go here. These ladies make confectionary treats,...they are not mind readers and fortune tellers. They have many good examples of previous works to refer you to look at, but if you have a general idea of what you want in terms of size, flavor and color, then they will do their best,....based on my own experience.

I have updated my review to a one star. I decided to give this place one more chance and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I picked a cake from their own website and today I was extremely disappointed. It's much smaller, no way will it suffice 15ppl as ordered (6 at most) and charged me $80 for something that looked like $30 worth. That's it, they've had my last piece of business. I will not return.

First time I ordered a baby shower cake it was very lovely and tasted okay. Second time I ordered a graduate cake with an exact picture of what my daughter wanted and the cake was rather underwhelming, it did not have any wow factor as the picture nor did it taste anything special. i was charged a lot more than the first time for a cake the same size. $175 for a small cake is way too much specially if it's very average looking. I ordered a birthday cake for my husband after reading the good reviews. However, I was really disappointed after receiving the cake. First of all, it is super expensive for a simple cake. They charge you for any single decoration they add on the cake. The smallest basic cake is $30 and then on top of that is the decorations cost. Second, the taste is awful. I could get a much tastier cake from the stores such as Kroger or HEB. The only thing that was good about the cake was its appearance. That's all. That was my first and last order from this bakery.
