So the gym is great and the prices are very good - IN THEORYI would have easily had a 5-star experience if the manager, Josh, hadn't turned out to be a lying scumbag salesman more interested in meeting his quota than in being honest with future clients.
I went in a few weeks ago and made it clear to the very nice sales rep who was helping me that I was hoping to sign up under one of the special promotions for the $10 monthly plan and would be happy to wait a couple of weeks since I would see them come up pretty regularly driving past the gym.
Had I waited those few weeks, I would have gotten the current promo of $10 down, $10 month and this probably would have been a 5 star rating. However, the sales manager, Josh, was less willing to wait. So when he came out to " work with us on pricing," he led us to believe that since they'd just finished the promotion there wouldn't be another one for "at least a few months."
Trusting his word, my fiance and I ended up paying over $80 to sign up for the $22/month plan which he claimed was the best deal he could get us. We made it clear to him this was considerably more than we'd been expecting to pay and that we'd been hoping for the $10/month plan. But again, he ASSURED us it would be quite a while before they ran any promos again.
TWO weeks later, I'm walking in and i see the $10 down, $10/month plan I had planned on waiting for. I confronted him and he basically told me corporate doesn't tell then when the deals will be and there was nothing he could do about it now. Come to find out by srolling through their Facebook that these deals run at least once a month but usually twice. Of course he knew that, but instead of being honest, he lied to my face in order to get the sale then and there. When i went in to confront him, he recommended i call corporate and made it sound like it was something they would be able to resolve without too much trouble. Another lie. Corporate just told me there was nothing they could do and that canceling takes 30 days so even if I canceled to get on the promo rate I'd have to pay another month on the current rate.
If you walk in and get a good promo rate, you will probably be very happy. But be warned, if you EVER have any sort of billing issue, this is the guy in charge and at the end of the day, he's way more concerned with money than...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give this FC location zero stars I would. I joined FC early this year to help attain my fitness goals. At first I thought the staff was welcoming and engaging and it made my decision easier to join considering I had gym options closer to home. However, things began taking a turn for the worse about 1 month into my membership. I signed up for personal training services and was taken aback by the lack of professionalism when dealing with scheduling. Overall my 8 week personal training service yielded very little results. The trainer, I was told āwas one of their bestā I found to be green and lack energy and engagement with me as a client. Secondly, I encouraged a neighbor to join the gym for its low cost and class schedules; she joined under my membership for the special that day. And the very next day she joined on her own. The reps at the front desk informed me theyād remove her in from my account once she joined on her own. Well that never happened and they continued to charge me twice each month, including the annual fee. I informed the Managers and GM of the issue. I was told in April, it would be taken cared of swiftly and not to worry about it. In the GMs words āno worries, weāve got youā. I felt assured that it would be resolved by the next billing cycle. But I was wrong. They went on to charge me twice monthly and never corrected the issue. When I asked repeatedly for status and a phone call from the GM, I was met with silence. After months of trying to get this correct and my money refunded, even enlisting an attorney to assist with the matter. Our attempts were met with no resolution and no refund. Since it was under $100 I chose not to continue with the matter and just canceled my membership. It has now been over 4 months and no refund or contact from the GM. I am appalled be the lack of professionalism and concern of management. I should have known, since I read horror stories from other reviews prior to signing up. Well here is your warning DO NOT sign up for this gym or FC overall. If you have any issues, the GM and Managers have no authority to do anything and will accuse all matters on the ācorporate officeā. Donāt be like me and move forward with this gym even after reading several bad reviews of similar nature. There are so many athletic facilities options in the Houston area,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt give out reviews on places. But taken Iāve been a customer for Fitness Connection for a little more then 4 yrās now and being to a few locations ( Even both in Austin ) I can arguably chive in. When I first start visiting this Katy Location due to moving out to Katy, I was very happy with it. If I have to guess a time frame I would say close to 3 yrās ago. The place was clean and organized. The employees seem to be helpful or at least willing to help. Today I walked in and noticed the gentlemen in the front counter was sitting on the counter reading a book. Reading is good right? My small rant is he didnāt even bother getting off the counter and scan my badge. I proceeded with scanning myself in ( no big deal ). What Iām trying to get to is, if Management allows this, itās just a matter of time where these employees will get insulted if you interrupt them in a middle of a Non-work related event. Also, thereās been a few hand full of times that I walk in and see a group of employees huddle together at the front counter chatting away, again with a few occasions where I have to scan myself. ( again no big deal, I can go about my business ). However, If this was my gym. I would tolerate being unprofessional no matter what your tittle is. If your employees have time to kill time chatting away, Iām sure thereās duties to be taken care of within the gym itself. With this being said, lately the gym has been left to deal with it own. Weights scattered everywhere, matts laying everywhere and just plain messy. I understand, customers need to pick up after themselves. I do my part, this is where the personnel and management can shine and making sure everything is organized. 10 bucks a month is a great deal for what you get out of this time. Iām seriously contemplating parting ways with Fitness Connection and pay a little more for better facilities. I know Management can do a way better job, perhaps they need ppl above them to put a little heat under them. One last thing, do not bother getting any coaching advices from their Personal Trainers, these...
