I love the items there and selection, but I was frustrated by the staff. I ran out to the store to get one item after I get the kids down, and I got there with five minutes to go before closing. The problem was watching the manager close the sliding doors as I was getting out of my car. I really needed the item, so I had to become "that guy" and bang on the glass. After ignoring me or mouthing the word "closed," she finally came over to talk to me. I told her I had rushed there to make it before nine and it was still before nine, but she told me they were closing the registers. I told her I needed one thing and I knew right where it was, so she told me I would need to have it in two minutes. I ran through the store, got it, payed for it, and was done by 9:00, leaving before the other customers had all left. She offered no apologies or explanations and still seemed put out by it.
I'm frustrated that I was treated poorly because I put her out by wanting to shop there. I get that people want to go home as early as possible, but business hours are business hours. I shouldn't have to tap on the window if you're open, and I shouldn't still be treated rudely when I make an effort to get through your store quickly. I just think about how I would have been handled if I tried to close my store early when I worked sales...
Anyway, nice selection, but staff doesn't seem to...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer at World Market and usually enjoy shopping here, but my recent experience with an employee named Betty was very disappointing.
I had received a message that I was eligible for a free gift, which was a candle. After completing my purchase, I asked Betty to scan my coupon. She handed me an orange-scented candle and told me that was the only option. However, I noticed there were several other scents available (orange, green, and white). When I pointed this out, she then admitted there was also a white option.
I preferred the white candle and politely asked if I could exchange the orange one for it. Instead of assisting me kindly, Betty became visibly annoyed and made unnecessary comments like, “If you didn’t like that smell, why did you accept it?” She acted upset over such a simple request, which made the interaction very unpleasant.
Customer service should be about helping customers with patience and respect, especially for something as small as switching a candle scent. Unfortunately, Betty’s attitude was unprofessional and made me feel very unwelcome.
I hope management addresses this issue because World Market is a store I usually love to shop at, but this experience left a very...
Read morePatio table came with a crack through it. Accompanying bench came with very notable scratches. After calling in to get a replacement table, I called back to confirm the following day. They had no record of the previous conversation so I had or go through the entire process again to set up another replacement order. Delivery day rolls around, we are given a 1-5pm window. 5pm rolls around so I call in to check on the status. They pushed it to 7:30pm. 8:30pm rolls around so I have to call in again. They push it back again by another hour (or so they're claiming). Damaged furniture? Fine, it happens. Don't follow that up with continuous terrible service. Shop elsewhere and save yourself the headache.
I know they use a third party delivery service, but they're still responsible for the services that they choose and are...
