Learning Express — Local services in Katy

Not a pleasant experience. Terrible way to do business.

I was told by a group that this store had one of the hot new toys for retail plus shipping and they were able to buy it over the phone with only $12.50 shipping to another state. So I hurried up and called the store to talk about buying one and shipping it to me. I live approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes away from their. The manager stated they were out of them and would be getting more soon. I asked if I could pay for it and they ship it to me when they get them. She said no but would take my number down and call as soon as they got them. So after waiting for a call I finally got one. Only to be disappointed when she said they have them but would be $10 more than Retail on the item which is NOT what she was selling for earlier that week. And to ship it to me would be $27. I told her no thanks and that’s not a great way to do business. First trying to make money by raising your price afterwards and then trying to charge me almost $30 to ship an item in the same state less than 4 hours away. And i regularly ship on eBay and for something that weighs more than this item doesn’t cost me that much to ship across the US!! Bad business practices. Don’t shop here. Better toy...

Two young women working at the store could not be bothered to look away from their phones long enough to check me out. They were literally looking at them and scrolling while checking me out. One was rude to the other and when a bag ripped while bagging my items, one was just going to tape it shut with scotch tape (which wouldn’t have held since it was a heavy purchase.) I had to ask them to please use a new bag. Usually this store has great customer service and helpful associates, so maybe this is just extra holiday help who aren’t regulars, but it was very disappointing. I loved the store , the products & material that they have to offer @ "Great & Affordable" prices. But more than anything thing else I was exceptionally pleased with the awesome customer service that was provided by Hailee! 😀 she was kind, very knowledgeable & offered very good suggestions. She was very patient in explaining the products and prices as well as the services that the Learning Express offered. She made myself & my son feel really welcome and relaxed to ask questions freely while we shopped.
