I usually love TJ Max. Maybe it’s just the Keene store, but I’ve had the worst customer service this week. I received a gift card for Christmas and went to shop the sales. I tried to ask if they could check the price for a coat that was in the clearance section. They (and by they I mean the cashier and another who just chimed in without being asked) flat out and rudely refused to check saying it just wasn’t on clearance and, I quote “people just love to put things where they don’t belong”. I tried to tell them that there were at least 4 other of the same jackets on the clearance rack so it can’t just be that all of them were put there by mistake. They still refused to help so I walked out. I came back the next day as there was something there that I wanted. While shopping I saw 4 sets of small mugs on the Christmas clearance table saying that the 50% would be taken off at the register. When I got to the register again they were apparently not included, but 4 sets magically appeared on a clearance table that weren’t legitimately clearance. So I decided to just grab one of the two I had picked out. I showed the cashier which one. He then looked at me and said “so which one would you like”. It’s not like I was speaking Russian. It is very apparent that they do not care enough to train their staff or organize...
Read moreWhy oh why oh WHY is the mens section so pathetically small...?? For goodness sakes. Men wear clothes too. Many men may not shop for themselves, but their wives will, or what about mothers shopping for their teenage sons? I was so aghast by the scant 3 short rows of picked over mens clothes, I mentioned it out loud, & another woman near me said yes, that was it; she was shopping for her 2 teenage sons, & mentioned Sierra instead (we'd just come from there). I can't remember the last time I was in a TJ Maxx, probably pre-2020, but I don't recall the men's section being so scant, however, after reading other reviews, this is obviously a problem, & has been for years. Yet have they increased their mens clothing selection? Nope.
They had more cheap, ugly costume jewelry than men's clothes.
They had more ugly purses than men's clothes.
They had more cheap, small furniture than men's clothes.
Cashier seemed annoyed after I politely declined signing up for their credit card, which I had to do not once, but twice. I was still nice though, because, well, that's what I do. Try not to stoop to other's level of discord.
Can't imagine ever needing to shop here again. Sierra (yes, part of the "family" of shops) right across the round-about has a MUCH better selection of men's...
Read moreI think you can find a few things with a good price. But many many things are still overpriced for a 'discount' store. Also, I just got back from there and we were looking for shoes. Whilst looking, we found shoes that had literally BEEN WORN. No joke, toes completely faded and worn, stank but still retagged! They had clearly been returned because they didn't have the original tag on them, had a printed off one. It was disgusting to see. A couple of pairs were like that. And still marked as upwards of 30 dollars! Appalling. Makes you wonder if what your getting has been worn or used for a while and just put back on the shelves. Also, most of their sections are a trashed mess. No organization whatsoever. Hangers were snapped, makeup literally dumps out on you because most are broken, nothing is tagged right or always in the wrong section. I don't trust their clearance section because mostly everything was 'put there by mistake' and they will not adjust prices. Really really...
