If I could give 0 stars I would.
To those who are looking for a knee specialist, do not waste your time with Dr. Corces. I am a 44 year old year old woman with a meniscal tear. Miami Joint Institute has employed individuals who do not care about the patient and I experienced poor treatment and lack of care in various phases of my medical process.
To begin, while the PA Miguel is very nice, but it is evident that he has been trained to get patients in and out of there as fast as possible. When I walked in, I didn’t even sit down. He said I needed an MRI and proceeded to write a script for pain meds, and a topical. He didn’t observe my gait, the lack of range or motion, or anything. It was like go downstairs and get an MRI with barely any time for me to explain how I injured myself or how I have been dealing with it. There was no recommendation to wear a brace or any insight as to whether I should keep off of it or not. I don’t even recall if he told me to put any ice or heat in the area because the interaction was lightning fast.
Secondly, I have an insurance policy that does not require authorizations for MRIs. However, the benefits rep did not listen to me and was even rude to me for calling her to follow up on the appointment day sooner than her standard “three days to process”. I explained to her I don’t have to wait because I don’t need authorizations. To which she replied in an annoyed tone that it was her office’s policies and I have to wait.
After I had finally received the MRI I went back to the office requesting to see the doctor. But they didn’t put me with the doctor, they put me with the PA again. He saw from the impression I had a meniscal tear and asked me to get an xray. He said it was to see if I had arthritis. I’m 44 and as I told him, I didn’t start experiencing pain until after the injury. Why didn’t they do an xray the first time I was there? It made the visit even longer before I could see the doctor and it caused me frustration.
Lastly, I met Dr. Corces. This doctor has terrible bedside manner. He constantly talked over me, he ran his hand down my leg without asking permission first, and was overall curt and arrogant. He took any of my probing questions as an annoyance and replied defensively to my probing questions to understand why he chose the course of treatment that he chose. He didn’t have my films and made the decision only based on the radiological impression. He made blanket generalizations and thoughtless comments such as you tore your meniscus because you did squats. But then wanted me to go get physical therapy to treat it? Does he not know that squats are part of PT?
I know this is a long post but it just shocked me the whole time how little people are regarded in that office. There were so many elderly people and people with disabilities that I just pray they go with an advocate because not one in that office that I dealt with worked with an acceptable standard of care. It was really...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews because I realize they can sound very one sided but this experience was so bad I felt like it was necessary. My hope is it can help someone make a better decision than we did in the future. Stay away from Dr Corces! Believe the reviews. One of the worst experiences of my life. My sister was sent to Dr Corces on a referral after complications from hip replacement surgery. I was acting as the care giver helping arrange particulars. Firstly, the office was incredibly crowded and we had to wait in the hall. During visit there were over 5 people in the room, mostly students I believe and we only spoke to the doctor for a max 2 minutes. Getting the surgery schedule was no easier. It seemed very chaotic and disorganized. Staff, with the exception of Olga, were non-communicative. Did not answer messages, texts, or emails in a timely manner if they answered at all. You can not get a live person on the phone. It was so bad I had to circumvent phone system to get someone on phone in an obsolete department to get Dr Corces secretary on the phone. On surgery day there were lots of miscommunication between the hospital and my sister and I that caused a lot confusion and frustration. Especially with my sister who had been dealing with this painful condition for well over 3 months. The end result was my sister being dropped as a patient by the doctor because “we offended him”. His words. Dr. Corces bedside manner was cold and callous not to mention incredibly unethical and unprofessional. I implore anyone considering Dr. Corces services to think twice. My life has been forever scarred by their horrible behavior and ineptitude, and I wouldn't wish this nightmare on anyone. Avoid them at all costs if you value your health and well-being. Bright side of the story is we found an incredible orthopedic surgeon who is with Jackson Memorial South, Dr Rich the next day. He did a wonderful job. His staff was incredible, responsive, and so nice. My sister is...
Read moreDo not come to this office, I repeat, do not come to this office. Firstly, I want to say I came to this office to accompany my mom and I came despite the mixed /low reviews to know first hand if this doctor would be a good option and it is not an option. UNPROFESSIONAL: 1. The medical assistants and other doctors were discussing other patients health information out loud in a small waiting area. 2. Dr. Corces did not greet my mom and literally spent 2 minutes with my mom all while speaking from the doorway. An "assistant" of Dr. Corces diagnosed and gave my mom treatment options - not Dr. Corcess it seemed as if Dr. Corces agreed with his assistant whom I still don't know what medical certifications he carries if - any. NO BEDSIDE MANNERS: He directed all his attention to me as I was asking questions but since he knows how to speak Spanish he should've directed answers and concerns to the actual patient as the information pertained to her. He spent 2 minutes from the door entry of the room instead coming in closing the door for privacy. I think he got surprised that I was asking questions and perhaps he is used to all the older population to just take his advise and be on with their day but not us we had valid simple questions and what better than to have them answered by someone who specializes in this. NO EXPLANATIONS: Usually anyone that works in the office and interacts with you will greet you telling you their name and what is going to happen and why - in this place they don't divulge their position (Hi my name is XYZ and I am going to XYS because XYZ) you just get told what to do and because of the population that gets seen here (MEDICARE) patients they treat everyone as if they are ignorant. It's the equivalent to a factory and an exploitation of those vulnerable Medicare patients. Overall dissatisfied. Please do your research and get second opinions ! If they treat a new patients like this imagine would could happen under anesthesia! First...
