Kennesaw Recreation Center — Local services in Kennesaw

It’s a very nice facility and I enjoy visiting. It’s practically brand new and I’m glad the community has a center like this. As for the reason this isn’t a 5 star review:

I’d like to preface that I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but today, one of the workers made me feel very unwelcome. When I walked in, there was no one at the check in desk but some of the staff floating around said good morning to me. As I head to the gym, I hear a very stern “UM, excuse me! You have to sign in.” This woman’s tone, demeanor, and look on her face said one 2 things to me: a) I hate my job. b) I take my job so seriously that I’ll get instantly frustrated and impatient at a young man walking into the gym without signing in. She had told me that they’d be setting up pickleball at 8:55, and I was there to play basketball. However, when 8:55 hit the clock, she came in to the gym to set up pickleball without any warning/notice. Without letting me know or even looking to see where I was, she began raising the goals. I was going to try to dunk the ball but stopped midair when I noticed the goal raising. Had I grabbed onto the rim at all or missed the dunk, the goal’s system could’ve been damaged, or worse, I could’ve been injured on the way down. This woman was rude and negligent, and the whole experience rubbed me...

Love the courts and great membership rates. The only reason it’s not a 5 star rating is that I wish the basketball hours were a bit more accessible to the average working adult. Open court hours throughout the week are unrealistic for anyone working a 9-5 job, so the only times there are to play are 3-8:45pm on Fridays/Saturdays. But they often have courts reserved for private events and these dates are generally the busiest for basketball anyways, so it can sometimes be kinda tough to get in on a game for that reason.

TLDR: Overall great experience though! If these hours can get expanded for basketball just a bit that’d be great. Even just one weekday where there was open basketball after 5pm would be great! (Note: website has incorrect weekday hours listed for open...

We purchased a membership to take advantage of open gym, however, the schedule that's posted on Facebook is a joke, calling to confirm gym time is a joke too! And yes, we have an account, however, there's NO COMMUNICATION/INACCURATE COMMUNICATION from this facility to often. We drive 45 minutes from home (90 minute round trip), to be told upon our arrival- there was a last minute change in the gym time and the gym is unavailable. That is after we CALLED TO CONFIRM GYM TIME- SAME DAY. That is completely unacceptable! This facility is wasting the citizens time and money. So, if you want to waste your time on a membership to facility that doesn't value your time, and you can barley use the facility, then join. However, if you value your time and money stay FAR AWAY...
