I am a fan of locally owned restaurants. I write this review not to scare people away, but to inform the Honeysuckle Biscuits & Bakery of things that should be improve. I went this morning at 9:30 AM (a weekday) as expected, they were not busy, one group sitting at a table and two people in line. I waited in line for nearly 30 minutes. The first person in line's order seemed to be causing problems with the register which seemed to require the barista to solve. Once that was resolved the woman paid and they asked her for her signature on the iPad based register which they flipped over for her to see, the counter is tall and the woman placing the order was not. She attempted to angle it down so she could see it but the wooden stand was not anchored to anything and fell over. finally after she was finished, the next person in line ordered. Her order didn't take very long but included food to be eaten there as well as 2 to go coffees, one decaf one regular (important later on.) I ordered 2 donuts and a biscuit, a coke, and a latte, all to go. Buy the time I ordered the line had grown to about 5 people. At this point I understand technology can be challenging and I was OK with the register issue, that was fine. The wait for my order is where things go wrong. I get my donuts immediately. Then they call my name for my biscuit shortly there after. Now the wait for my latte. I see the barista getting a to go cup ready and think it's mine, so I get up to take it from her and she tells me it's for the original group that was seated before I got in line more than 30 minutes earlier! The wait continues. 3 more coffee drinks are made by the barista before the woman ahead of me gets her coffees. At this time the barista hands her the two to go cups, and explains that she mistakenly put a "D" on the cup that was not Decaf and the one without the "D" was in fact the Decaf. How hard would it have been to write D on the decaf cup and pour the regular into a different cup? Then after finally making my drink I'm free to leave (only after having to get my coke out of the cooler myself without being told.) The entire visit lasted nearly an hour. The kitchen was efficient and the woman at the counter seemed nice. The Chocolate iced donut was good but the blueberry cake donut tasted artificial, and not very good. The biscuit was fine if a little expensive for what it was. The latte tasted fine but not worth the wait or the price. Hopefully things will improve. The other reviews seem to say that my experience was not the norm. Based on my personal experience there were plenty of opportunities to do...
Read moreMy first experience was a bit of a yellow flag. I was ordering for my mom when the barista asked for my name. I spelled it out for her because I had dealt with mistakes before. I said, "Oh, my name is Nicole with an H." Then she asked how to spell it, and I replied, "Alright, it's N I C H O L E... Nichole." After she typed it up, I assumed she got it right, but I was sadly mistaken when they called out my name as Nichkeisha. I was honestly offended and asked, "Hey, are you trying to pronounce Nichole?" The barista replied that she believed so and then asked if I had ordered (says order). Both she and another girl apologized, and I brushed it off.
Later, I returned to have my order taken by the same girl who had handed me my food last time. Again, she asked for my name, and I told her it was Nicole with an H. When I went to pay, I noticed that the order name was Nicole. It didn't bother me much because most people spell my name that way anyway, and I was just happy it was my name. Keep in mind, my order was at 9 AM. Five minutes later, I got my drink, which was fine since that's usually how long it takes at other shops. After waiting a bit longer with another gentleman, I noticed she was handed a bacon biscuit with egg. She picked up my receipt, looked at me, read the receipt again, and started walking around the shop looking for someone to give it to. Just to note, my order was to go, so I figured it was a mistake since the kitchen was a little busy.
As time passed, I approached the barista and politely said I wanted to cancel my order. She scoffed at me and replied, "We're kind of busy, and your order is literally almost done," with an agitated look on her face. After a little while, she tossed the food near me and immediately turned away. Honestly, the whole experience left me feeling really unwelcome in their...
Read moreI ordered one biscuit with bacon, egg and cheese for myself, and half a dozen bakery items I was going to give as gift. I understand they are new, still training, so slow at the register was understandable. She was trying, learning and doing her best so that wasn’t a problem. The biiscuit I ordered was entered in their system correctly but incorrect on the preparation end. I didn’t realize this until I was half way home so I returned asking for a corrected order, and this is when the service went terribly wrong. I waited 15-20 minutes for a correction. When I inquired what was taking so long they said the guy who does the biscuit orders was in the bathroom. All the ingredients were pre-made so I couldn’t figure out why someone else didn’t take care of my order. After asking about my order again they said they were working on it. Finally, one clerk (the one who tells me later he IS the manager) starts filling NEW orders, but I am still waiting on my order. When I complained and asked to speak to a manager the person behind the counter lied to me and said he was the manager when in fact he wasn’t. I found that out when I later got tired of waiting and asked for a refund and a different clerk at the register said he was NOT the manager! Geeeezz...would never go back here again. First a wrong order, rude clerk, terrible wait time, then being lied to... Awful, awful...
