I found this market while working in St. Petersburg for a few weeks on a temporary assignment. In those few weeks, I visited at least 4 times for my addiction. Watermelon! I was hooked!
They had 3 different varieties of watermelon. I spoke with the gentleman at the counter (I wish I would have gotten his name), who was so kind and helpful. He helped me choose, helped me to the car, and also taught me about the "stems". Now I'm no young person anymore, but never knew about the stems. For those of you that don't know, you want a brown stem for ripeness. After the first watermelon, I was hooked. BTW, groceries don't have stems.
I haven't had a good watermelon in years. You know, the kind that pops open when you start cutting it. And the sweet sugar aroma just fills the air!
A sincere thank you to the kind and helpful gentleman at the counter. Best customer service ever! Guess I'll be taking a ride on the weekends to stock...

Read moreI've been hearing a friend rave about this farmer's market for a couple of years, but only made it to Sue's a couple of weeks ago. I FILLED a shopping cart with fresh fruits and veggies for about $42. After making a 10-fruit salad with the produce I grew up with, I was sold. Over the weekend, I shopped for more exotic things like papaya and mango, and I'm a believer! The produce is easy to reach (I have mobility issues, so a long stretch is hard for me), and fresh-fresh-fresh. BEST prices on organic brown eggs! Some prices on produce are higher than the supermarket (even Aldi), but most are lower, and you can't beat the taste and variety. If you really want to enjoy healthy food at a great price,...
