The Beach Music Shop — Local services in Kill Devil Hills

A few years ago while on our annual family vacation, my wife and I were asked to play acoustically at a pub in the parking lot of the Food Lion in Coralla, the bar above the shops. As always, we had brought our guitars, but intended to play without amplification. To our surprise the owner of this music shop's daughter worked at the pub and had asked her mother to loan us a p.a. for the show and had put the word out. So in addition to our family, the bar was packed. Not only did we get to perform for our east coast family, but we got to perform to many O.B.X. residents who became our friends. I can’t say enough great things about this shop! I don’t usually go to music stores because quite honestly they intimidate me. I don’t know a lot about music and/or instruments. But I was beyond surprised with this place. The owner Hugh so welcoming that I felt comfortable enough to ask some questions about all the guitars he had on the walls. From why guitars have different shapes, why do some have different of heads, what are guitars made out of and how are they made. I’m talking really basic questions! And never once did he make me feel silly or stupid. Our conversation was easy and the more I learned the more I wanted to know! Staying in OBX this week for vacation. I brought my guitar with me, as I’m a newer musician and I wanted to practice through the week. I had not bought a capo or strap and was really bummed because I wanted to get the right sounds, so I hunted for some guitar shops near me and found this one. I walked in and was instantly greeted with good vibes from the owner, this guy is awesome! I told him I was a beginner and he happily walked me through each product and gave me demonstrations and was just super informative. Exactly what music should be!
