I like GameStop in general but this particular store in Newport, Tennessee is always in a rush it seems to get rid of you and send you in a different direction for help with anything. If not for that then I would rate five stars. Its not the management doing it but the regular employees and then this new manager from another store is not only short and hateful with customers but also does not honor what other managers have already been doing in the previous transactions or visits to this store regardless of proof you show. He will argue with you over the values of your phone if you ask even though you have the updated correct data straight from Gamestop website about the current market and sale value of the phone and he just isn't a good people person or someone a customer looks forward to dealing with and this causes multiple regular customers that I know to go another direction when buying or trading any games or equipment and accessories or selling phones and buying them as well. He should not be a manager and go back to the Sevierville store to harass the customers there instead of here. Why this Gamestop would choose to bring someone like that into their store is beyond me and I will never understand because most district managers or higher up staff would not want someone as a manager who isn't a people person or who argues and upsets customers and causes the store to lose business and causes customers to go to these off brand gaming thrift stores to do business instead of being able to do it with gamestop as usual. I have never witnessed a worse manager or person for that position in my life. I hate to be ugly about it but I have no other way to articulate how terrible the experience is everytime I have tried to speak with this person for help or when buying something or selling and trading. I thought maybe he was only being that way during times of me trying to sell something because he was trying to save the store money and by that he would low ball me on the values of my items even though I knew better and knew what their values were at the time but NO its not just selling stuff that he is like this and its also during buying or trading as well. I also thought maybe he had a bad taste in his mouth about me since the first interaction with him was regarding selling my phone and we got into a small argument on the phone because he was trying to low ball me on my phone. I sent a close friend of mine into the store to test this theory and she recorded the interaction and she was humble, nice and very pleasant and non argumentative the entire time but he still tried to do the same to her and was very rude, short, dismissive and hateful to her for no good reason. I am going to go to corporate with this information and the BBB as well and I do have two separate recordings of this man acting totally out of character for a person in management at any store or in any field.. its just absurd and ridiculous at this point that nothing had been done before it got to this level because i know for a fact that several other now ex-Gamestop customers have complained on him as well but nothing was done about it. The manager who was also a male who was there before this man from Sevierville took over eas very nice and pleasant to deal with and very honest and helpful and patient and he was a people person and that is who they should have as their general manager not this guy who is not management material and came from I believe the Sevierville store or one that had closed down they said. He needs to be closed down himself and never work with people or in the public ever again until he takes some etiquette courses and learns how to be fair, polite, honest, patient, kind and helpful to others. You learn this in kindergarten so there is really no excuse sir!! Gamestop to you there is no excuse for allowing someone like this to run your store and not do anything about it. When you have u happy customers and are losing business then its very arrogant to think a few customers are not needed because you have so many it...
Read moreWe have been going to GameStop stores for over 20 years, and have never received the amount of outstanding customer service we experienced at this Kingsport location. The store manager, Ben, was there this afternoon and from the moment we walked into the store, until the moment we left, he treated us as if he had known us our entire life. The atmosphere as a whole was inviting, with the store very clean and well kept. We had no issues with any of our transactions, and had such a great experience as a whole just shopping here. The employees that worked with Ben were also very welcoming, and everyone as a whole was super friendly. Being from the south, this is the kind of "southern hospitality" we look forward to not only when visiting family and friends, but also shopping in stores. It had been very disappointing getting bad experiences at other GameStop stores, since gaming is a hobby both my husband and I enjoy together. But Ben and his team really revitalized our love for not only gaming, but also shopping at GameStop. This is without a doubt the store we will return to...
Read moreThe employees at the Kingsport GameStop located next to target are complete lazy idiots. Wanted to pre order the PS5 Pro when it went live. Called multiple times and when they answered the phone each time they sounded like I was bothering them and each time was given different wrong information. First was told they didn’t know if they were taking pre orders, second was told maybe they will but it’ll be the middle of next month (after the launch date lol) and the last time was told straight up no they weren’t.
Out of frustration I then called the Johnson city mall location and was given the correct information where I went and did my pre order. Not the first time I have had these kind of issues with the Kingsport Target location. I’ll never go there again and I suggest you...
