So, here's why I love this place....they have soul. The management is hyper community focused, bringing in family-friendly events that range from the largest pet adoption events in the country, to free bands, health fairs, car shows, and all sorts of free entertainment that brings their community together, and makes a difference in the lives of others. I see people here mentioning homeless issues, but Grossmont has a great security department to with guards who walk the mall and check the parking lot all day long, so they really are dealing with it to keep everyone safe. If you haven't been there lately, new owners took over the mall and beautified the inner courtyards, making it quite a pretty place to spend the day. On top of all that, you have Target and Walmart on each end for literally everything you could need, high-end stores like Restoration Hardware Outlet and Macy's, and boutique stores, health management, gymnasiums, restaurants, a movie theater, and everything else in between. I can, and have, spent the entire day there and appreciate what they're adding to the La Mesa/El Cajon neighborhoods. And after finding out that other malls like UTC are CHARGING for parking, I truly appreciate that Grossmont let's us spend out money on stuff IN the mall, and not on a...
Read moreIt's been awhile since venturing out to go mall shopping and stopped by to check things out. Negative is that the restrooms in the food court were super dirty. I suggest using the facilities at one of the major stores, e.g.,Target, Macy's, etc. The positive is that I found two new stores. The 1st is Public Market, which is a small boutique filled with unique items from local artists and vendors. So, if you want to support local small businesses and you are looking for something unique you should pay this store a visit. The 2nd store is California Gemstones. This is an excellent store to visit, for both children and adults, if you are into gemstones and jewelry. The interaction between the employees and children at this store is phenomenal. They go the extra mile and talk to the youngsters about the minerals.and gemstones. As an adult I was enamored with not only the gemstones but also the jewelry available. This store also has a designer that creates one of a kind precious metal and gemstone pieces at extremely reasonable prices. So if you are at Grossmont Center and want a break from the usual take a step into this small outdoor mall. You might just find...
Read moreI went to Walmart with a lot of returns. Apparently I am sometimes dyslexic so got in the wrong line. And had no receipt. The woman was patient and helpful. Later, there were a couple of employees who could have done better. One who effectively blocked 3 aisles rather than move her cart (I use a motorized cart and she knew I wanted to shop that section, but wasn't going to have it for whatever reason). And another who neglected to answer my question re plus sizes. She sent me to one shelf when the store has a whole dept of plus sizes, which is a plus. The selection throughout the store was great Overall, most employees were cheerful, friendly and helpful. I had to get a Lyft ride hone, and my cell phone was misbehaving. An employee helped me out and when the app for Lyft wouldn't load, he plugged in his WiFi password. And he stayed with me for about 10 minutes, periodically checking the Lyft app, basically making sure I would get safely on my way home. I am aging, and this kind of kindness means a lot. Without his help, I wasn't going anywhere. Finally he put my purchases and walker in the car. I wish I had gotten his name. This store has some...
