So we came here based off of reviews and we happen to be hungry for breakfast and at the mall. I ordered the chilaquiles with and over easy egg. The plate came, and the egg was fried on one side only, and the egg yolk was exposed. I explained that wasn't an over easy egg, she went to the back and the cook told her what I asked for was an over hard egg. I said no it's not (because then the yolk would be cooked all the way through), I just want it fried on both sides and she took the plate back and said they would redo it over hard. So I was expecting an egg fried on both sides with the yolk cooked through, which I guess I would rather have than having the white part looking raw like sunny side up. The plate came back, and looked exactly the same, as if they just brought back the same plate. If you are going to correct a paying customer, at least follow through with the supposed correction. I have asked for over easy eggs at dine in restaurants like Broken Yolk, Dennys, IHop, Janet's Cafe, House of pancakes, Aunt Emma's and various Mexican restaurants and I've never had the egg come back looking like this. Always fried on both sides , but not cooked all the way through, like over hard. If the chilaquiles flavor hadn't been as amazing as it was, I probably would've left it all. So, at least everything else...
Read moreI love this place. It's location in the Grossmont Mall makes it convenient if you're doing some shopping or having a day out at CeramiCafe. The staff is friendly, the place is always clean, and the food is fantastic. I haven't ordered anything here that didn't end up being delicious. I especially recommend their guacamole and chips, which is made fresh from an avocado unlike many other Mexican food places. Another dish they make themselves is their refried beans, which are good both as a side or as a quick snack.
They have both sit down and take-out options. If you choose to sit down you get a real dishes and silverware to eat with, which is nice, and if you choose to eat takeaway the food is always carefully wrapped not to spill.
They also have a great selection of food at reasonable prices whether you're looking for the authentic Mexican dishes or the Americanized version. Additionally, they carry a small selection of Mexican made juice drinks along with the typical soft drinks.
Overall, it's a great little place and a good alternative to the food court if you're interested in family-run Mexican instead of...
Read moreVery disappointing. I've come here quite a few times & it's pretty good, except for this visit. I was the only one dining in here at the time of my visit when I placed my order. I didn't get my iced coffee promptly as I should have. I should have gotten it right away & before my food arrived. I ordered a wet-style carne asada burrito for lunch. It had a little sauce on top & the cheese was put on the inside which ruined it. Cheese should have been on top not inside. The guacamole inside wasn't much & very pasty like & bland. My side of sour cream wasn't served either when my order arrived & I didn't get it til I finished almost 1/2 my burrito. The refried beans were too runny/watery like & was very thin & pasty & not very appetizing at all. I couldn't even finish the burrito. Even the tortilla used to make it didn't taste right. The coffee was the only thing that was...
