Dr. Rebecca Sturmer at Clayton Wellness Center has been a god-send. In February 2018, I woke up one morning and couldn't speak. After some scary visits to the physician and the ENT, I was diagnosed with idiopathic vocal paralysis. Not knowing what caused the paralysis was tough and scary, since no one could tell me if my voice would ever return. (Extra scary since I'm a singer).

Slowly, over the next two months, my voice was getting a little louder, but progress was slow. After reading about acupuncture as an option on a Vocal Paralysis Facebook Group, I was on the search for a credible acupuncturist in St. Louis. I found Clayton Wellness Center. Dr. Sturmer did a full assessment of my condition and history and concluded that I'd be a good candidate for chiropractic adjustments paired with acupuncture.

She was so sweet and kind throughout the process. She checked in frequently to see if anything was uncomfortable or if I had any questions. Still skeptical about any benefits from my visit, I scheduled a follow-up visit for another session a couple weeks later.

After my second session with Dr. Sturmer, my voice was almost audible! It wasn't super-strong, but in two weeks I had made more progress than in two months without the adjustments and acupuncture. By July 2018, my voice had almost fully returned.

I continue to see Dr. Sturmer every 3-4 weeks just to stay aligned and keep my shoulder, neck and throat area open and healthy. Not only has Dr. Sturmer helped me get my voice back, but she continues to offer great advice about how to stay healthy and balanced, like that I need to get regular massages, get enough rest, and take my B-Complex. The ENT said that he was impressed on how well my other vocal cord has compensated for the (anticipated permanent) right-side paralysis.

I can't thank Dr. Sturmer and Clayton Wellness Center enough for the help and hope. I don't know where I'd be without them, and can't recommend them...

I have recommended Dr. Sanger to so many friends and family members because the work she does is incredible! I have seen her not just for chiropractics but also after having digestive issue post surgeries, post-partum and I have seen her for allergies. She helps me everytime and gives perspective and insight that I have never gotten from a traditional western medical doctor. I always leave her office feeling like I have been listened to and taken care of. My young daughters love seeing her too. Her office is always clean, calming and welcoming. I was healed of my peanut butter allergy 15 years ago through Dr. Sturmer’s treatments, and now 15 years later my daughter (who has seen every doctor in St. Louis for the last 4 years for terrible stomach aches) has just reported to me that after several treatments with Dr. Sturmer, she no longer has stomach pain!!
