This review is a long time coming. I have a HUGE collection of Aloha (Hawaiian) shirts; they are a part of my signature style. I own shirts from the top aloha shirt companies, Reyn Spooner, Tori Richard, Tommy Bahama, Hilo Hattie, and others. But the overwhelming majority come from the company that has shirts that are consistently of the best quality in design, materials, and workmanship--High Seas Trading Co. No matter what your political leanings may be, we can all agree it is patriotic to purchase products that are made in America. Some of my shirts from High Seas Trading are 20 years old and they still look as nice as they day I purchased them. The quality is outstanding; I simply wash and hang the shirts and they always look beautiful. To make this point clearer, wherever I go, I get compliments about how nice these shirts look. Complete strangers are constantly starting conversations with me about these shirts. I even received a “great shirt,” compliment from a past POTUS (the “Freedom” shirt). Yesterday, my good friend told me that he gets compliments wherever he goes when he wears the shirt I gave him from HSTC. Thanks, Terrill Agnew, for the great shirts you have made in the past and the new shirts (about 5 each month) you will produce. It is always a pleasure to do business with you. Great effort, great quality,...
Read moreThe shirts I bought for my sons for Christmas arrived. I love the fabrics. The pockets are nicely matched. The seams are straight and mostly well done. However, there is some puckering through the shoulder seams (between the double seams) on both shirts. The main displeasure is with the button hole finishing work. I ironed each shirt prior to gift packaging and therefore unbuttoned them. 80% of the buttons would not come out of the button holes due to frayed fabric thread wrapped around the buttons. I had to trim the threads to remove the buttons, and then continue trimming the fraying fabric left inside the button holes. For the price of these shirts, that finish work should have been done in shop. Even cheap shirts from Walmart unbutton properly upon purchase. I found hanging threads on other seams that had not been trimmed as well.
Though the shirts are very attractive and I support made in America products, I think this issue would keep me from purchasing High Seas shirts again. It is unfortunate, because I thought perhaps I'd finally found something I could get my adult sons each year for Christmas.
I believe you genuinely care about the quality of your product, and perhaps this information will be taken to heart for...
Read moreI have been acquiring Hawaiian style shirts for several years now before I happened across HSTC. I probably have now at least 7 or 8 of Terrill's (owner) shirts and I happy with everyone of them. Yes, you can find cheaper but this is a case where you absolutely get what you pay for. The colors and the patterns are unique and vibrant, the materials used are quality, and shirts are built well. In all cases the shirts look much better in person than the pictures imply. My only complaint is sizing, his shirts run a little bigger than normal. All my other brand shirts I order XL, with the HSTC shirts L is a better size for me and I'm 6'-1", 235lbs. I primarily buy his novelty patterns and I constantly get compliments from strangers. If you want to treat yourself to nice stuff this should be on your list. The only other issue is, and I'm not sure if this is good or bad thing, but if you see a pattern that you like you better snap it up quickly. Most of his designs are limited builds, when they are gone they are gone. I missed out on a couple shirts i wanted figuring they...
