I will never forget the day I came in here to do an Instacart order, and I was surrounded by 5 Psychotic In-store female shoppers, and a very crazy-eyed, Stater brothers Manager.Ā There had been an incorporated policy of, having to take your Shopping cart after picking up an order, and running it through an Aisle to "De-activate" the security locks of some sort. Prior to that, for 2 years, I simply just grabbed my bags, scanned them, and then delivered them to the customer. On that day, I recall a small female of about 23 years of age, she looked like an character from the Harry Potter series, or perhaps the type of girl who plays Dungeons and Dragons, has Medieval weaponry in her personal closet at home. Anyways, she was very pale and angry. Her eyes were bloodshot, and her name was "Joy." - She confronted me in the middle of the aisle with customers coming to and fro. Telling me I absolutely "HAD" to take my bags, and run it through the aisle. I told her that I did, and for some reason, it wasn't working. So I wasn't going to waste my time, running the car tthrough the Aisle, as I wanted to get my groceries, get out, and DELIVER to the Customer! That wasn't good enough. "Tay" turned the small incident, into some kind of feminist womens liberation movement. I was surrounded by 5 angry Instacart in-store shoppers attempting to reprimand me on my duty. "Tay", had bloodshot eyes, tears coming out of her face, and was screaming in the middle of the entrance as customers walked by. I was completely dumbfounded. I told her, I was going to continue with my job and go about my business (As per, the terms of service of Instacart independent contractor agreement.) Immediately, "Tay" Stormed off into some office, and the 5-6 workers that surrounded me disappeared, and it became eerily quiet. I then scanned my bags in left. Momentarily, I received an email from Instacart Corporate stating that I ahd been "Removed" from the vendor. This angry little woman, cried wolf to corporate, and had me removed from her store on some Technicality power trip. I then began to lose income, as I wasn't able to collect deliveries from this store no longer. I attempted to reach out to Stater brothers corporate several times, and I was never recompensated for income loss or anything. Just kicked off into the wind as if I never mattered, despite having done hundreds of deliveries at that location no problem.
Stater brothers. Train your Managers to treat the Independent contractors with respect, or do not install "IN-store" shoppers for extra profit. Greed doesn't win in the long run. Do not hire emotionally unstable females that lack mental maturity to handle various situations. Thanks...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe produce and everything is fine. .. Too bad I can't say the same for the staff that work there, though. Having been shopping for necessities enough to be familiar with the place, I can say that the staff are a bit.. uncomfortable unless you happen to be a Caucasian/white/non-Hispanic/... I'm certainly not white, and their attitude towards non-whites are a bit obvious.
For instance, I had been the next one to check-in my groceries with the cashier--all the smiles, chit-chat, even a welcome greeting that was previously there with all the other white customers had suddenly vanished from the moment I had been next. So, of course, the entire thing was just.. awkward and dead silent. With the exception of the bar scanner. Now, the screen that showed the list of groceries had become the most interesting thing in the world for the cashier. Like dude, I'm not some guy in black or anything; I'm wearing some casual clothes that don't even have that much skin exposure! Am I doing something wrong?
Finally, "Would you like a bag?...(pause) ". Wow, I totally feel comfortable in the same way as how you're feeling right now.. Even getting the receipt was apparently too much, because the cashier barely gave it--or more like kind of hold it at the very edge of the paper, the coins weighing on it.. So obviously, it's not surprising to have the coins fall out.. Is this a comedy exchange? I don't exactly have all the time in the world..
With the exception of the receipt one (that was once, but the cashier was familiar), this feeling of discomfort when you get these stares or silence from the staff here are shockingly normal for me and my family. This place is as lively as a freaking graveyard if you're not white/Caucasian. Or I guess if you're not a part of the race(s) that frequently visit here lol. I'd write more here, but word limit, so..
tl;dr bruh the staff here are kinda racist in a subtle way and i don't rlly wanna come here anymore... Vons is where it's at lol
UPDATE (01/2017): Seems they tried fixing up this apparent racism, but some horrible old lady (long hair often bundled up in a ponytail) consistently doesnāt bother to hide her distaste towards non-whites, should they ever be in a line with (seemingly) Caucasian...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI purchased pork tamales and multiple sliced deli meat, ham, chicken and Turkey on 3/04/20 and several hours later we became sick, hot n cold sweats, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pain, eventually after a couple days we felt better and recuperated, then I was trying to figure out the how and why we got food poising so I looked on the tamale package and it said SELL BY 2/24/20, and my receipt say 3/04/20, and I remember the deli lady did not sanitize or wipe down or clean the meat slicer nor did she CHANGE HER GLOVES after handling variety of meats, so I went to stater bros on mission Dr in lake Elsinore and went to the deli and asked the girl if I can check out a bag of tamales and sure enough it had the same SELL BY DATE of 2/24/20 so I asked her and she said its fine sir they were frozen you'll be good and I said no your poising ppl then I requested the managers presence and I proceeded to tell her and I showed her my receipt and the tamale bag and my receipt was torn by the payment area and she said she couldn't give me a refund plus I told her I can care less about a 8 dollar refund when I just missed 2days of work at 190 a day so a 7.89 refund was irrelevant. So my conclusion is we got food poising from the spoiled tamales or the deli meat that got cross...
