My husband upgraded my engagement ring for my 40th birthday. We purchased the sustainable lab-grown diamond ring from Brilliant Earth, including the setting. Why we went to Kassab...

Brilliant Earth is an online self-service site. We did not receive the level of support necessary when buying an investment of this size. We did not have a live person to educate and guide us on the strength of metals or the integrity of the setting structure.

My 4.0-carat diamond would constantly come loose. Brilliant Earth was willing to "review and assess" the situation but it would take up to 4 weeks without confirmation they would fix it. Yeah, no.

Found Kassab Jewelers on Yelp and Google. Mark tightened the diamond and setting for me, but warned that it would quickly happen again due to the setting design, size of the diamond, and the softness of 18K gold metal we had picked. There was no infrastructure to hold the prongs together. Diamonds are stronger than metal and will eventually come loose again.

He was right. 😳

Long story short, Mark fixed my setting and secured our diamond once, then we returned to fix it for good and reset the diamond. We found a beautiful Tacori setting that still fit our dainty minimalistic style. We customized the setting with platinum prongs with a hidden pavé halo with a gold base; allowing the diamond to be the focal point. I'm so happy with the setting and have so much more CONFIDENCE wearing my ring vs. worrying about losing the diamond.

Mark was great at communicating via email, phone, and text - and text was my preference and he was so quick to respond and send photos, including status updates.

I worked directly with Sandy Ponder and Phillip Susan, two incredibly patient and understanding associates. Unlike my time at other Portland jewelry stores, I was given as much one-on-one consultation time as I needed. They took the time to learn what I was looking for in an engagement ring, and worked with my budget to present me with great options. I never felt pressured or intimidated because they were truly working with me to find the best ring. Their above and beyond service is what makes them unique. Before I even set foot inside a jewelry store, I performed an extensive amount of research online. This included their professional opinions and experience with different diamonds and settings, the ability to view the diamond in person (which is MUCH more important than I initially thought), and the service and guarantees that are part of a purchase. Words on a screen don't do enough to convey just how tremendous of an experience I had working with Mark Hoyt and Kassab Jewelers.

I originally came to Mark in February of this year and sat down with him on two separate occasions to discuss and design a ring for my soon-to-be fiancee. He had even shown me multiple diamonds that he had taken the time to select for my review. Just before it was time to make it official, I had a work opportunity take me out of town for an extended period that put the entire ring process on hold, and Mark was incredibly gracious in understanding my postponement.

I got back in touch with Mark in May to restart the project, albeit with a new budget. He immediately picked back up where we left off, delivered a GORGEOUS stone that was within my budget and personally set it himself. It came together even more perfectly than I imagined. He was even gracious enough to offer a personal guarantee should I want to make additions to the ring in the future.

Just as impressive as the ring was Mark and Kassab Jewelers' care, respect and professionalism throughout the process. From start to finish, Mark was crucial in helping me understand the nuances of the diamond, how it's created in the lab, what options are available for care and insurance, and so much more - all things I were ignorant of as a first-time diamond ring buyer.
