Our first time here was about a month ago and it was great. We happened to go in on a Monday night and found out that kids meals are half off on Monday night. Cool! We all had pizza and it was good!
Fast forward a month, we have guests visiting us and we took them here last night, another Monday night. It was a very different experience. Our server was named Olivia and she seemed new because every question we asked, she needed to go ask someone else what the answer was. That's fine, I get it and it wasn't a problem! But we had to ask for silverware 3 times, menus, kids menus, crayons, etc, all individually.
We were told that the menu is via QR code but were offered paper versions because our guests were older and preferred the paper format. Also, we wanted the paper kids' menus so they could do the puzzles & coloring while we waited.
We were also told tonight that kids meals are no longer half off on Monday nights, btw. Whatever, bummer, specials change apparently.
Fast forward, our guests received the wrong pizza and had to wait a while to have theirs remade which upset them.
The final insult was when the bill came, we got overcharged on both kids' pizzas and our guests' pizza. We'd been expecting to pay $5 for each kid meal, then when the special was off, we expected $10 per meal as written on the menu, but we were billed $11 per meal. I brought this to Olivia's attention and she told me no, $11 is correct. I showed her the paper menu stating $10 --- not that $2 is a big deal to us, but I really didn't appreciate being argued with when I was correct. (See my attached photo of one of my kids' menus) She said the online menu says $11 and they don't usually give out the paper menus. It's a kid menu with puzzles though - why wouldn't you give this out?? I told her the paper menu should have the same prices as the online one and she agreed and said she'd send an email to somebody about it.
After receiving the wrong pizza, our guests (who were frankly expecting a discount for having the wrong item brought and having to wait) were overcharged $2 to add spinach to their pizza, when it was supposed to be included per both menus (and we double checked this with Olivia when we were ordering it.) I also brought this overcharge to Olivia's attention and she said it looks weird on the bill, but it adds up correctly. If that was true, the pizza would cost $19.25, which we all knew was not the case. See attached photo for the item on the menu - the red arrow points to what they ordered (vegan sausage and spinach pizza), which is $17.25.
Overall, we had a really negative experience here. Olivia's response was very much no, you're wrong. But we weren't wrong, going by the menus we were given. She was misinformed or the menus don't all agree, either way, we should have been charged by what we were looking at!
Olivia finally agreed that we were overcharged for the kids' meals but said she'd "have to go upstairs to have them override it" or something. I wasn't going to go nuts over $2 so I said no, that's not needed. And I didn't want to have to get a paper menu again or scan the QR code, look up my guests' meal on the spot, and argue that too. I found it very unprofessional, when usually at a restaurant, a server will just go oops, lemme change that.
Including the disappearing kids' meal special, we paid $14 more than we expected here. We went in specifically for that special. I get it, specials apparently change. I tried to look it up on the website beforehand but there's conflicting info on there talking about meatball Mondays, then other places saying there's no specials, so I assumed the website was not current. To be clear, we didn't go to this place to rip anybody off or haggle over prices! We just wanted to go have a meal and have fun together.
It's too bad, because we actually all liked the food. But I don't think we'll be going back here, unfortunately. If it was a simple mistake that would have been sorted out, that would have been ok. But the service was subpar and we were argued...

Excited to try this new pizzeria here in downtown Lake Oswego. The food and our waitress were, overall, very good.
My girlfriend and I ordered and enjoyed a traditional pizza with pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, peppers, red sauce, and mozzarella. The flavor was there. Wood-fired ovens tend to overcook a pizza quickly and the toppings on our pie were well cooked, if a bit underdone and the crust was very chewy-- not much of a crunch to add to the overall texture, something we both thought would have perfected an otherwise well done pie.
We also ordered the pork meatballs that were very nicely cooked, juicy, and flavorful... we both thought we noticed a hint of Frank's red hot sauce in there...
Where things went south were, before ordering our food, my girlfriend requested to be moved to a booth. I understand, in a rather busy restaurant, a two top would be ideal for two people. Though nice, the two top at which we were sat had uncomfortable chairs and the booth, which was open, looked a bit more comfy. The waitress asked the host who came to me to apologize for not being able to accommodate us. As my girlfriend had made the request I told him so and told him it would be more fitting for the apology to be addressed to her. He looked at her, and laughed... he laughed at her. I found his behavior insulting to us both.
Later, we noticed an elderly man making his way to the door, shaking, and a bit off balance. One of the waitstaff, hurriedly passed by the older gentleman, cutting around him and nearly causing him to spill over instead of politely helping him by or standing aside while he navigated around the tables. Also, poor form.
The decor is nice, but clashes against the televisions, chosen music, and the waitstaff uniforms. There is definitely an identity crisis at hand, here.
I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience -- a simple denied request to be re-seated could have been handled much better-- if only the host hadn't laughed when asked to apologize to a woman..
2/5
Update: Chuckie Pies will be opening up a location right by sur lago, and we've experienced no such issues. Great neapolitan style pizza and excellent service every time...
Read moreSo I came here after a long week of work, to Portland, the pizza capital of the pnw. I was famished and my go-to place was swamped so I decided to try this establishment. I ordered takeout because I'm extremely exhausted and slept for 12 hours. I get out of my shower and the delivery guy is just dropping off the pizza perfectly timed. I pick it up and walk to my kitchen and open the box; I'm completely dismayed at what I see. I paid $50 including a tip of $8 to get this duck special pizza. I would call this like a breadstick special with sprinkles of dehydrated dry powdery duck on top. I did get the pizza well done but the quality of the duck makes it seem like this was probably shipped dehydrated rehydrated and then cooked. The toppings don't cover even 50% of the top of the pizza. I'm looking at other reviews and I see this is a common occurrence for this establishment. I understand that traditional Pizza doesn't necessarily have topping cycle to the exact edge of the crust, and I know this because I was chef in a 4 star pizza-centric restaurant. When we made pizza the toppings didn't necessarily go to the exact Edge we didn't use templates to see exactly where to put the sauce we were all professionals so we made the pizza with our heart and made sure that it was not merely sufficient in quality for our customers, but that if we had been served this we would be overly joyed to consume it. After tasting the pizza- the pizza itself tastes great, minus the extremely dehydrated duck. I gave those to my cats and they did not even eat it they chose to eat the Frozen raw food duck that I feed them, while it was still frozen, instead of this. Luckily the customer service rep that I spoke to agree with me that this pizza was lacking in quality for their delivery service to stand behind, they promptly refunded my order. I would advise you to go in person if you want to get pizza from this place, or order takeout from some other place literally...
