With no mosaic experience at all, I took the one-week-long, large-scale mosaics class taught by Gary Drostle, whose art I had discovered online. The class and the school are fantastic. The school has a huge inventory of styles and materials, and what seems like scores of active artists working or of the space. The school has a vibrant, collaborative, and supportive environment that made it a real pleasure, as well as a really edifying experience, to take a class. They offer 90 to 100 classes every year!! Ranting student from Minnesota claiming that our Democracy is being taking away from by Trump and on and on for 15 minutes .All nine others in the class agreeing with her including the instructor. Owner refused to take any responsibility , no ground rules on the website or at the beginning of the class for no political discussion. Definitely not a "safe" place. I hoped to pick up special instruction on working with some glass I had and left with inspiration, knowledge and enthusiasm. We made 2 small projects which helped us to appreciate mosaic technique and tools of the trade. The teacher, was perfect, addressing the needs of both novice artist and practicing artists alike.
