Exactly what Santa Clarita needed. While this isnāt a store I plan on visiting frequently for reasons Iāll get to in just a moment, itās still a business I plan on supporting in as many ways as possible.
Voodoo Vinyl has left a lasting positive mark in Lancaster with a venue accompanying their store. Itās too bad we couldnāt get a venue here, too! SCV is in deep need of intimate music venues; Iād argue that we donāt have any, truly. And Voodoo Vinyl has been fantastic about hosting smaller bands (such as some of my friendsā bands which have gone on to greater things as a result), so hopefully weāll get this addition in the near future.
Our location is nicely displayed; spend some time here and youāll quickly notice all of the hidden oddities that give the place character. They have a listening booth, which I didnāt use, but got a laugh out of the artistic addition to the phone. Jazz, punk, and post metal are my genres, of which they only lacked the latter. The selection was fair, though there was very little that stuck my interest during my visit. While they do have a bargain bin and mystery grab bag, the overall prices were nothing to call home about, especially considering the selection.
The redeeming area is the small movie display behind the listening booth. It is filled with cult gems! Things that are hard to come by and should be snatched up instantly. Even if you arenāt in the know about cult classics, there are plenty of interesting pieces thatāll catch any curious eye. Do not leave without...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePrior to the store opening I had the honor to meet one of the owners when I had posted that I had a few records for sale. He showed up and I think he was surprised at how many records I had in my collection. I know he wanted to buy more but I could not part ways with them. Well it has been almost 2 years? I have visited a few times and I can honestly say that every time I walk in, I walk out with something purchased. My wife most likely absolutely hates this store because what I spend here is the money she is not spending someplace else. I love the "groove" of the place and there is always something to purchase inside the store. I am finally starting to part ways with a few records in my collection and bringing them to "trade in" for credit. So far so good. I am slowly upgrading and trimming down my collection and my wife is becoming happy...
