Costco Wholesale — Local services in Lathrop

There is an employee at the Manteca CA location (store number 1031) named Josh. He is very unprofessional and has no idea what customer service means. My son and I were at the check out and I was going to pay separately for my groceries, but the lady at the register said I could not because my son has a membership and I do not. I was a little taken a back because I had done it before and was never told to get a membership, but rules are rules so I said to just put my things back and my son will buy his own groceries. Then Josh came up and started making rude comments about how I told them to just put my things back. He said things like “you should have enough money yo pay for your groceries,” and other very inappropriate statements. My son told him his customer service was unprofessional and that he was going to talk to the manager. Josh continued to make rude comments and would not stop until we paid for our things and went to find the manager. We told the manager what had happened and she was very nice and apologetic, but that employee needs to be reprimanded for his behavior. I feel like because I was going to use an EBT card to pay for some of our groceries, he assumed I was “poor” and could belittle and then blame his bad behavior on me by saying I was rude first, so he has every right to say the things he did. Yesterday after having a complete eye exam done by my eye doctor I got a quote for two pairs of Progressive Lens glasses... One for everyday use and one pair of sunglasses. After running it through my insurance my portion for the two pairs of glasses was $620! Being JUST a teacher, and NOT making a lot of MONEY, this is quite an expense for me. So I decided to just get the one pair of everyday glasses which cut the cost down to $220. However, after leaving and thinking about it further I decided to check out Costco optometry department. I went in and picked out two pairs of frames and braced myself for the quote. They have a couple specials going, one you got $30 off on a second pair of glasses and there were two other discounts that I can't recall at the moment. Anyway, long story short I got both pairs of glasses, my regular everyday psir and my sunglasses, both with the same prescription, and after running it through my insurance my total was $173 out the door for both pair! Even if you don't feel comfortable having an eye exam done at Costco I think it's a good idea for everyone to take their prescription to Costco to see what they can do as far as price for your glasses! I am now a firm believer that they are the most inexpensive place around! I'm just hoping the quality is as good as they say it is when I receive them. Regardless, I'm happy with my decision to completely cancel my other order with my eye doctor and go...

I would like to share my experience with the people who helped me at the Manteca Costco. They went above and beyond to help us out. We had a terrible experience while driving south on the Freeway the sunroof of our car suddenly exploded and showered us with glass! Fortunately my adult son, who was driving, kept his cool and calmly took the nearest exit which happened to be near the Costco. After parking, I asked the staff in the tire shop to help us- they advised us to go Mr Car Wash and vacuum the glass- the awesome free vacuum was amazingly efficient. We went back to Costco to wait for AAA to tow us. It began to rain and we had no roof! We again asked for help and the tire shop moved our car inside for shelter. I went inside Costco, we are members, we looked for tarps but the only ones for sale are heavy duty stiff plastic ones that would ruin the car paintwork. Then I noticed that the mattresses have heavy duty giant plastic bags. But they are not for sale. I spoke to a couple of staff members and they kindly gave me a bag. Their kindness allowed me to cover the roof of my car- by tucking the bag into the doors and the corners under the edge of the hood next to the windshield. The tow truck arrived soon after. We reached our home safely and despite the pouring rain the whole way home, our car interior stayed dry. Thank you so much for your kindness Costco...
