PROS: This place has a huge selection of stock to choose from. They're staff is very knowledgeable about the products they sell, and even most gaming stuff that they don't. I've never had an issue with the employees, as one of the previous reviewers commented. They always seem friendly and willing to help.
The prices on the products are what you'd expect, everything hovering right around MSRP. Some things cheaper, some things more. It evens out to a wash there. BUT, and it's a big but, they have a rewards program. Every $100 you spend, you get $10 off your next purchase of more than $10. That means that after a few trips there, you're actually getting everything "10%' off.
They also have a pretty good sized gaming area, where you can play games. Private rooms you can request (ahead of time, I believe -- I've never done the requesting, just the playing in the rooms), as well as a large open gaming area. It's the best place in town to play Warmachine, Magic the Gathering, and Pathfinder Society.
There are also a ton of food places nearby. Pizza, hamburgers, sandwiches, tacos, milkshakes, salads, and anything sold at a dollar store and a gas station are all within a 2 minute walk from the entrance to the building. The store does not sell food themselves, but they do have a Pepsi vending machine in the store, at vending machine prices.
CONS: It is a long drive to get there, at least from where I live. And while it isn't their fault at all, there is no public transit that has a stop close to the store. The closest that there is is 3 miles away. Not really that much of a walk or a bike to get from the bus stop to the store, but it's still slightly annoying, enough to mention. The only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is that reason: distance.
Conclusion: If you live on the east side already, this is where you should game and by your products, without a doubt. If you live closer to downtown or the west side, or don't have a vehicle, it's annoying to get there at times. But, it's still worth the...
Read moreFinal edit because I'm chaotic and have too much time. Went to Good Games downtown. They don't have what i was looking for, but offered to order it and told me about the other products they had for that game Man, what a concept. The bar is on the floor if I have to consider that acceptable customer service. I did find it in stock at The Sage's Shoppe in West Lafayette and bought it.
I am editing my review in response to the owner to add that I am 100% sure this is not a kickstarter item. It is sold by a number of game stores online (and Amazon, of course) in ample quantities for $30 or less, but I was hoping to buy it from a local store instead. "I wasn't there but I also think you don't know what you're talking about" was a good laugh though and totally supports my initial review. I'll see if a more inclusive store can order it for me, thanks though!*
Not very friendly if you don't fit the typical "gamer" profile. I listened to the employee help a young man in great length answering all of his questions. When I, a girly female told him what I was looking for, I was snubbed and told what I wanted was only part of a Kickstarter despite having seen it at another game shop and it being available on Amazon. He took no care to even listen to whether or not I wanted help with anything else and suggested I look on Etsy. I was planning to buy partner one of their stone dice sets, but after being lied to seemingly because I didn't fit a profile I decided I don't want to spend money here or visit again. It's fine if you don't have it in stock or don't know what I'm talking about, but trying to shoo me away by lying to me because you assume my business won't be valuable has only ensured you never get...
Read moreIf you have time and are able to do tournaments then it’s great. Inside is clean. However, I just left and probably won’t return because for a casual player, collector, or someone who’s trying to get their kids excited for Lorcana it’s not worth it. I’ve went all over central indiana and everywhere I’ve gone they’re sold out. So I visited this place as they had some the first time I went a month back. They confirmed they had boosters today but only for those who were participating in the tournament, they had first dibs. The tournament started at 3 and I was told I’d had to purchase a spot in it to be able to purchase them or wait until it was over with no guarantee that there would be any boosters left. I was also told that they had a good amount left in the back, but it’s still first dibs for the tournament signees.again no guarantee. So I had to either spend additional money that’s not really there in our budget or wait until it was over. For someone who got rid of all of their MTG cards to try and get his kids to play it was extremely disappointing. What about those who can’t go and do tournaments due to multiple reasons. How is it fair. I haven’t been to a card place in my life where they didn’t set aside a select number of boosters or boxes in their inventory for individuals who aren’t in the tournament...
