I made my two little girls a hair appointment here for their birthdays, because it was a close salon & the reviews were really good. The stylist were friendly, however they were not properly trained at all. My two little girls are African American I simply wanted then to get a wash, & style. There was supposed to be two stylist on their heads at the same time however when I arrived one of the stylist was still working on someone else’s hair, leaving the one stylist to do my kids hair. The stylist took my younger daughter, washed her hair, and put it in two pointy tails STILL WET now I’m not sure if that’s a cultural difference or not, but with the cold weather going outside with wet hair will make you sick! So I had to ask her to blow dry my daughters hair, mind you when I looked at it there was still a lot of conditioner left in her hair. They basically did not get the styles that I expected them to receive, completely inconveniencing me. Now I still paid the full amount because it was business, but after I got home and seen how sad my girls were about their hair I called the salon the next day to speak with a manager on how we can reconcile the issue. My problem is, if they were uneducated on doing African American hair they should have never touched their heads, the service should’ve been declined that way I could save my money, and find someone experienced. I called & was told I would get a call back, that did not happen. I waited the next day for a call back, still no call so I call them again and have to reexplain the situation for a third time just to be told I would get a call back that I have yet to receive. I feel like the situation was handled very poorly, & customer service is terrible. Why tell me I would get a call back for days to go by & I never receive the call. I previously had a good review on here for my visit back in 2021 with Jamie. However, my last visit with Alyssa didn’t go well. I spent $250 because extra charges were added at the end (that I had not been informed of). I also felt like Alyssa rushed through my appointment and didn’t care about making my hair look the best it could look. As a stylist, your clients represent you. Why would you let your clients walk out looking bad? I booked an all over color, but all she did was make my roots darker than the rest of my hair. It didn’t look good at all. I was very unhappy with it. I did not notice how bad my roots looked until I got home. I was so unhappy with my hair that I colored it myself less than a month later. Then today, my daughter had a haircut with Layna. Layna seemed really nice and did a good job with the haircut for my daughter. However, she didn’t wash my daughter’s hair at all. That’s part of the haircut… getting it washed. She asked my daughter if she had just washed it and my daughter didn’t do a thorough job because she thought Layna would be washing it. Had I realized Layna was not washing her hair, I would have spoken up. I believe my daughter’s haircut would look much better if her hair was actually clean. I can’t believe she didn’t even give my daughter the OPTION to get her hair washed. She just assumed she didn’t need it washed because it was still wet. Between the experiences with Alyssa and Layna, I would not recommend this hair salon whatsoever. Jamie is the only one I would go to if I ever went back. With how much this place charges (and how much I tip), they shouldn’t be skipping any part of a service. They also shouldn’t add extra charges without informing the customer first. I did a lot of research on stylists that specialized in curly hair which is hard to find. I saw Alyssa’s page and looked at her work and was impressed, hoping that maybe I would get the same results as her other clients. She was great! Super nice and really helped me with curl issues. My curls were damaged due to box dye and bleach. It was lacking definition and volume, although it was long but very dry and had no volume. Alyssa showed me a really great technique to help with my pattern and help me gain volume and ways to keep my hair healthy. My entire visit was very informative and I was doing a lot wrong in my hair routine. She did a really nice chop and she styled my hair. My hair has never looked better. It’s so soft and my light. My curls popped! They have never done that. She took her time with me and was really nice. I even purchased the products that she use on my hair. Hopefully I get the same results. I will be going back in 10 weeks for another another cut by her;) This was July 2024 Feb 2025- It’s always a pleasure coming here to get serviced by Alyssa. She always takes her time and we always have a pleasant conversation and she’s just so adorable. She knows exactly what to do to my hair and she listens and pays attention to detail.
