Today I bought a rod amd reel and line from Kyle and Bennie, thue were informative, patient, and had good recommendations. I'll bump my rating up a star.
Started off looking for the Push Poles, and the store representative was telling me all I have is in front of you. He was showing me the Anchor poles. He had no IDEA what a push pole was. Next I went over to the Rod/reel lure section and while I was browsing there were two people behind the service desk literally arguing over who was doing work and who was being lazy. After at least 2 minutes of me listening to them "bicker" back and forth it stopped. Then I hear "Why don't you just do 'something'?!" fairly loudly and obnoxiously. I then noticed she grabbed a bunch of boxes and walked off; head down. After that I was checking out the Depth finders. There was 3 people standing around the corner, and I heard one talking and he ended up saying, the best way to learn these things is by getting with someone that uses them daily on the water. I was patiently waiting and had already told my son to be patient for the associate to finish up with his current customers before we interjected. I try to teach my kids respect, etc. After about five minutes, I had pushed all the buttons on the touch screen and was done doing self research and was going to move on. When I walked around the corner, I realized that the three people were all associates, and they were being given some sort of demonstration by what I assumed was a manager/trainer ... someone knowledgeable about the hardware. I asked him if he had and transducers available, as I had a Helix 5 and was thinking of upgrading, and was told a better transducer would be a great place to start. He mentioned that all of the depth finders that he sold had transducers with them, however he did have some other transducers. He then led me to the mounting area, that had all of the hardware to mount transducers either on your trolling motor, or different areas of a boat. He showed me a trolling motor mounting harness and wiring and told me that was the only one he had currently. I asked him isn't this just the "mounting bracket" and he begin to look inside the box that said Transducer bracket on it to see if he could see the transducer. I knew just by the price, it couldn't be the entire assembly. This was the guy teaching others about the depth finders. he promptly walked away, and began saying, " he would get someone more knowledgeable." I then continued looking in the section and found transducers for the Lowrance depth finders on the other side of the isle I was on. There was none compatible for the Hummingbirds, so I began to move on. I needed to replace a fishing rod holder on my center console that I was able to find for like $6.99 which I thought was amazing. Then I remembered I needed to get some fiberglass patch, as I had a blow out a while back and needed to just fix some cosmetic damage that was done to the boat. I looked and looked, and finally an associate came by, the associate was with another associate strolling slowly through the store talking idly. I asked her if she knew where the patch would be. She said, it was right here and pointed me down the isle I had been looking on for several minutes. I didn't find anything, when I turned around she was gone. Several other associates strolled by and were oddly enough with other associates chatting idly about anything from there day to each other. I never found the fiberglass patch material. On the way to the front desk to pay for my other stuff I had found on my own, I noticed several employees casually playing with each other, either horse-playing, or chatting idly. It was like a "Social Club" for lack of better terms. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a store ... EVER. Was sad, and for a store full of really cool stuff, I would expect to have some more knowledgeable trained people. With that said, I do understand the environment we are in currently, and maybe there was a large turnover ... but Geeez seriously ... is...
Read moreMe and my boyfriend have come here twice to look at the guns. We are both 20 and not quite old enough to buy, but my boyfriend really loves guns and wants to buy one as soon as he turns 21. He is super good with them always safe and quite knowledgeable. (He’s liked them since he was a kid). So we come here to look at a potential first gun for him. Both times we have come we are treated absolutely horrible. The first time we went we were in the gun vault, we were asked for our id’s which is fine we gave them. Though after he gave them back he never left. He stared at us and it felt like he was breathing down our necks. I got uncomfortable so I excused myself. My bf came out shortly after and told me the guy berated him about how he was doing everything wrong. (Holding, aiming etc). We then left. 2 months later we go again. We go to the counter this time my bf asks if he can look at a gun. The guy gives us an un-interested stare and with a rude tone asks. Do you have your id? My bf says yes then he says then go make a request at a machine (lazily points in a direction) the crazy thing is a middle aged man walks up to the counter to ask the same thing. All smiles, how can help you sir? Like what? So your ageist? But that not even the highlight. My bf noticed some bands they put on the end of the guns. I’m guessing to label or mark them. Anyway he thought they were cool. And wanted one to put on a BB gun he had. So we asked if they had extras and that we were willing to pay if needed. What were we asked do you have an id? My bf presented it (my bf is not from here. He's from Honduras.) So he presents his id. It says his age and name and of course that he’s from Honduras. The guy just looks at us. And says he can’t expect it and asked for a drivers licenses. Which my boyfriend didn’t have. I sigh loudly and say I have one. Oh no we can’t expect that. And then I lost it I said: what you can’t except my if so I can get a rubber band!? He goes oh a rubber band my bad. (He looks at my bf) and says it must have been lost in translation. What translation? My bf speaks perfect English with barely any accent. As a white girl I have never experienced prejudice like that. And I hate using the race card but like wtf? A word to cabellas staff: we are your next generation. The people who will be buying guns from yall in the generations to come. You might wanna try to be nicer to us. It’s safe to say that we won’t be buying his first gun here. The light and joy he has when he talks and geeks out on guns always diminishes when we go here. I hate it and I won’t...
Read moreWould be a zero if that was an option. My wife purchased a firearm online at this store since we would be in the area. We live 3.5 hours away. Upon arrival she presented the gun counter staff her CHL and Driver's Licence. She was given a laptop to fill out Form 4473 per store policy even though Federal law does not require dealers to conduct a background check if a firearm purchaser presents a state permit to purchase or possess a firearm. Handgun license holders in Texas are exempt from the federal background check requirement when purchasing a handgun as this has already been completed. Meaning, you took the required training, passed a written test and practical assessment, you submitted the application forms and your fingerprints and you were approved. We have no problem following the store policy though and she fills out the form. After she was done the employee ask her to review the form with him to ensure everything was accurate and spelled correctly. The employee then told her he wouldn't accept her CHL because on the form she put her middle name (as directed) and on her CHL it doesn't have her middle name. Mind you she had both IDs on the counter. Same picture, same Driver's License #, her middle name clearly on her Driver's License. He insist he has to run the check at this point. When I asked him if she could just remove her middle name he said no. When I asked if she had spelled it incorrectly would she be allowed to change it he said yes. I asked him to make that make sense and was met with a blank stare. So he runs it and it of course initiated a hold. Since it was a Friday, that could potentially mean Thursday before she was free to take the firearm she had already paid for. Again we live 3.5 hours away. The whole thing was ridiculous. We asked for our money back, which was initiated, but no one could tell us how long that would take for us to actually see the refund. I will never spend another dollar at any...
