Never rated something so low. But, it’s for a good reason. Several good reasons, actually. I gave this place two chances. Here’s what went wrong:
First Visit; -one of the cups we received was filthy, and a bug was floating in the drink. We asked for a new glass, and the waiter brought a new cup 10 minutes later and made a snarky comment.
-flies were flying around the restaurant and landing on food/ drinks consistently.
-our food was sitting in the window for an hour. We were waiting for our food altogether for two hours. When we realized the food was sitting there for so long, we asked for the check for the drinks because we no longer wanted the food. The waiter went to grab the food instead of the check. We refused, and once again asked for the check for the drinks. After waiting ten more minutes for the check, I just grabbed some cash from my purse and set it on the table so we could leave.
Second Visit, comped by one of the managers; -We arrived and were given our silverware/ drinks pretty quickly. However, the glasses were once again dirty. One glass even had lip marks at the top of it. We asked for new glassware, and the waitress brought new glasses that were also- you guessed it- dirty. She made a snarky comment as well saying “well the last glass was fine”. Like, girl- no it wasn’t.
-Food got out quicker this time (but still took 30 minutes). We unraveled our utensils, only to find that leftover, dried up food was on them. And not just a little bit: it was CHUNKS of food dried up on them. At this point we were disgusted and paranoid that the plates our food was on was also dirty, so we decided to not eat it and left the restaurant, but not before the waitress said “well what do you want me to do about it?” When we mentioned the dirty silverware. At that point, we were over it.
We will not be coming back to this BBD, which is heartbreaking because we liked the other locations so much, and this one was a nice middle ground for all of us to meet at. We are beyond disappointed, and if you want good food/ service, I urge you to...
Read moreThe food was great! The service was slow.
Slow Tuesday morning, not long after opening. My wife and I slipped in for a quick breakfast. Our server sat us close to the crossing paths near the front doors so we could be reached quickly from multiple directions. We got our drinks pretty quickly, and everything was great, so far. We ordered our meal and then waited. My coffee cup went dry. We waited. After a couple more minutes, my coffee cup was replenished. While waiting on my food, I noticed our waitress was standing by a counter looking at her phone. The cook placed two plates of food under the warming lamps and said something to the waitress. She continued to examine her phone. After about two minutes, she took the two items and delivered them to some customers seated next to us. Afterward, she turned away and walked back to the kitchen area without checking on her two other tables. This time, as she was viewing her phone and talking to another employee, three plates were placed under the warmer lamps. Once again, she acknowledged them. After three minutes, she collected the plates and brought our food to us. It looked great. She asked if we needed anything and exited when we said no. Within a minute, we flagged her down for an order of grits that was missing from our breakfast. She told us she was on her way to get it, as it wasn't ready as soon as the rest of the food. I watched her say something to the cook and then walk off. She then attended her tables and topped off drinks, and then returned to the kitchen area and waited for the grits that supposedly were ordered almost 30 minutes ago. The grits were ready approximately 5 minutes after they were reminded that we were missing them. The meal was good, and the Hobo Omelet that I ordered was probably one of the best omelets I've ever had. We finished our meal and waited for the check and the to-go boxes we requested. Again with the waiting. At no time was there more than 3 tables with customers and all the tables only had two...
Read moreLiterally the worst pickup experience I’ve ever had, that’s that’s saying quite a bit.
For starters, I was picking up some soup for my boss, and I couldn’t even get the front door open. Customers had to help me, while the staff watched in amusement. So I pick up $8 worth of soup, which the staff member just motioned to for me to grab myself.
I get back to work, and I realize they’ve literally just put a tiny (about half a cup) of soup in a bag, with no napkins, plastic ware, nor crackers. So we call to ask about it, and they answer the first time. They literally said “I don’t know”, then hung up. After that they wouldn’t answer the phones, so I had to drive all the way back there to explain the situation. I asked for a manager, and the man at the front (a red headed guy wearing a backwards cap) said he’d get one, but then I sat there and waited while he dealt with everyone else besides me. I ended up waiting 20 minutes, and instead of the manager coming out to meet me, the same guy brings out a second (cup) of soup (a completely different soup, mind you) and tells me that I cannot speak to a manager and basically tells me that’s that. All the while I’ve been helping their own customers open their front door, which the staff cared nothing about (and seemed to be finding it amusing that people were struggling, by giggling and smiling at those people.
I’ve never had such terrible, uncaring service from a chain restaurant establishment before. I’m honestly surprised they even gave me another (completely different) soup.
If I could rate Black Bear zero stars, I would. Don’t bring your family here, they don’t care about you or...
