When my now fiancée and I decided to begin shopping around for an engagement ring at the beginning of the year, we were very excited to shop at Mazzarese, as they were recommended to us. I then realized they were not a business I wanted to spend my money at.
When we were first shopping around the service was great and helpful, we discussed many options but we really wanted to look for a solitaire emerald or radiant cut. We were told that they didnât have any in store currently and that weâd have to get some in via delivery and schedule an appointment to see them. This was okay with us and we scheduled for the next week. Before leaving we discussed size and shape, etc but most importantly price (including the maximum I was willing to spend). We left excited for our appointment the following week.
Fast forward to the next week and we come in to see our possible stones. Quickly we realized this was not the store for us as every single stone that they ordered in were above my maximum price I told them. Some being a considerable amount over what I told them. We left disappointed, but not for long as we went to a different jeweler and found my fiancées dream ring. Not only was it affordable, but it was less than half of what Mazzarese quoted us for and the stone was more than double the caret size (same clarity, color, etc).
So it wasnât the right ring for us right? That happens and itâs okay, but the worst thing happened AFTER we got engaged. Turns out someone on staff at Mazzarese told my parents (who are longstanding customers of Mazzarese) that we came in and were shopping for rings, something we had explicitly NOT told them as we wanted the engagement to be a surprise. My fiancĂ©e and I have been together for over six years, so everyone knew we would be engaged at some point, so the last thing I could give my parents is the element of surprise, something Mazzarese stole from me and my family and thus, has lost my business forever.
I truly hope you read this review and learn that itâs wrong to disclose information that is not yours to share and use better judgement...

I went in after my fiance proposed to return the ring because it was not my preference. They refused to work with me. They spent an hour trying to get me to finance a new ring, ones that were way out of my price range. Eventually, I gave up and left in tears. A few days later, the ring's center stone came loose (eventually losing other smaller stones around the center). They again refused to refund me even after the ring proved to be defective. The sales staff was condescending. I was blown away at the lack of understanding. Absolutely no concept of customer service, except to coerce you into spending more. Update: 6 yrs later I donât wear the defective ring. Iâve never stepped foot in Mazzarese again (but I have spent lots of money on jewelry for anniversaries, birthdays etc.) I ended up buying a new engagement ring from a small, local business whose owners treated me with respect no matter my budget. Six years later as our income has grown, weâve spent a lot of money at this other Mom and Pop shop. Point is, Mazzarese missed out on the long game because they offered terrible customer service and bullied me because of my budget. I remember interacting with several of the sales staff over this fiasco. The owner snuck around the counter and slyly laid a tray of very expensive rings on the counter by the sales girl, not so subtly telling her to upsell me. This was while I was humbly asking for a refund of the ring they sold my fiancĂ© a week earlier. Six years later, the experience leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Would leave less than a star. 10 yr Update: Yes, after 10 yrs this still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Contrary to their response, they never made it right. I got a beautiful pendant necklace for my 10 yr anniversary, not...
Read moreIf I could give them 0 stars, I would. Buying a ring here was a horrible experience and led to us returning my engagement ring. My fiance and I went in months before he proposed and picked out a custom ring. When he ordered it, THEY made the mistake and ordered the wrong metal, white gold instead of rose gold and just told him, "maybe she'll like this better." He proposed to me with the white gold ring while the rose gold ring was supposedly getting ordered. The ring was also a half size too big, and they were supposed to be ordering the smaller size. After a month of wearing the white gold ring, they reportedly had the rose gold ring in, but the wrong size. After TWO more weeks of waiting, they told us the right ring was in. We went to the store, picked it up and left. It was rose gold, however, after two weeks of wearing it, I knew something wasn't right. We took it to another store and had them measure it, and, come to find out, it was still the bigger size and had never been resized as we were not only told, but waited weeks for. We called, once again, to have the issue resolved. They told us to bring the ring in the next day to have it sized right. After we got the ring back, I noticed the metal was now two different colors. I took it into yet another store and after the jeweler looked at it, told me the ring was actually a WHITE GOLD ring that had been plated to look rose gold. We had the same ring the entire time, so I'm still not exactly sure what took so long each time they were supposedly "resolving the issues." Not only did we have to wait weeks and weeks to get what we paid for, we were lied to. Not once did anyone from the store apologize to us or try and accommodate for their poor customer service or fraud jewelry. The whole thing was a scam and if that is the way they do business, they don't deserve to even be IN business. DO NOT do...
