I HATE to drag a place for things partially beyond their control, but this was just too much. Arrived on a Friday night one minute before our 7pm reservations. It was notably hot inside, but I didn't think anything about it initially. We were seated immediately. Only after our drinks arrived (both excellent), were we told the A/C was not functioning (on a 96⁰ & humid KC evening). By the time our food arrived, my date and I were sweating uncomfortably. Within a few minutes, someone decided to open the large garage-style door. This provided maybe two degrees of difference, but the ensuing gnat invasion made the bad night worse. The server apologized a couple times for the heat and the gnats. He could tell we were not having a good time. Halfway through her meal, my date gave up on it. Though it was good, it was too much work keeping gnats off the food and out of our eyes and ears between bites. I was really surprised to learn we weren't offered any comps for the bad experience. I tipped my 21% because the young man was apologetic and made sure we had plenty of water. But at some point, someone should have checked on all the patrons. This is a management and leadership issue. Let your customers know when they arrive that the HVAC isn't working like it should. Don't open the garage door to let gnats into the already still & stuffy room. Disappointed. Highly unlikely to ever return. Food was good. Drinks were great. Atmosphere...

I went to Veritas for the first time this past Friday and placed my order with the rest of my friends. I ordered an appetizer and asked for it to come out with my meal. The rest of the tables entrees come out and only my Appetizer comes out. I'm waiting and the waitress comes out and tells me she forgot to put my entree in and put a rush on it. 20-25 mins later my dish comes out, the rest of the table is practically dome eating. Usually when this happens the manager comes out to apologize or comp your meal/dish. Nothing. The waitress's acted as if nothing was wrong. She then comes out to collect payment, I politely ask her if there is anything she can do about the chicken. She says she will be right back. Comes back a few mins later and says "Im sorry that took so long I had to get permission, I took 25% off" calculating at the table she only took 25% off my entree so $5 for a 20-25 min wait on my Dish. I knew she did not talk to the manager. I paid and tipped and left. I called from my car and spoke to a mgmr and explained what had happened, she stated this was never brought to her attention and she was able to locate my ticket and she removed the chicken dish from my bill. It was my first time going and our entire tables first time. Sadly, we collectively agreed it was first and last. The food was good but lying about taking to a mgmr and the service overall is the main reason for the score and likely never...

Legitimately the worst experience I’ve ever had. The shrimp appetizer was not at all good, it went mostly untouched and while that absolutely is not on our waitress, she noticed but never addressed it. She didn’t even come back to our table for about 20 minutes, both our drinks sat empty for about 15, she probably missed out on $50 more had she even come back once. We had to ask twice for water, and she walked around our table about 5 times before finally coming over. Someone on charge, not sure if it was the owner or manager, was there, but was only talking to specific tables and also seating people. I wish I could blame it on being NYE but they weren’t even full, they were still taking walk-ins. The entrees were good, but honestly by that point we were just ready to be out of there and were not happy with the experience, we were about to cancel our food and ask for the check when someone brought out our entrees. Really disappointed as we were looking forward to getting out and trying a new local place. I never leave bad reviews and am a chronic over-tipper and I don’t think I’ve ever undertipped until tonight, which I even felt bad about despite the absolutely terrible service. Especially for their prices. The environment also felt more like a sports bar which I was not expecting on nye or given the location, but honestly that pales in comparison to the service. Will not go back and do not...

A hidden Sunday brunch gem! Tired of fighting the crowds for brunch on Sundays at some chain restaurant? You have to try Veritas. We had a delightful dinner there that clearly showed their chef is exceptional. And the drinks were equally as creative . While there for dinner we were surprised to discover they also served Sunday brunch. And apparently others don’t know about it either because when we went on Sunday (they open at 11:30), we got right in and were not asked to wait for our names to be called or to hold a beeper (so refreshing). And, just like our dinner, every detail of the food was pure perfection right down to the potatoes served on the side. I asked for ketchup for my potatoes (as every other place needs it) and then tried one bite and wasn’t about to cover up the flavor. It’s my new favorite brunch spot.

Date night win! Menu with nice variety, dishes excellently prepared with good flavors and textures. Thoroughly enjoyed the Mahi Mahi with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. Fun and wide selection of whiskeys including some rarer finds at relatively palatable prices, if that's your thing. We dropped in on a Saturday night without a reservation and got seated right away, but they do take reservations, which seems the safest bet. Service was kind and food arrived in a timely fashion. We were able to spend a little over an hour here then walk over to AMC to catch a movie by 7pm. So glad we gave Veritas a try and looking forward to coming back with friends!

This was my second time at Veritas, it was not as great as our first time. The service was off, we never really knew who our server was and no one checked on us for our food until we were done eating. We were served a drink where the soda had clearly ran out for but we didn’t get ahold of the server for 20 minutes. Also My second pear martini was so different than my first, way stronger and not as tasty. The dessert sounded great but the brownie was lukewarm. Overall the entrees were great but everything else was just ok.
