I received a session here at World of Racing KC as a birthday gift this year! HOLY SMOKES, this was a T O N of fun!!!!
For the uninitiated, World of Racing has numerous race simulators set up that you can reserve time at! Each simulator is just like you are sitting in a race car with a race seat, steering wheel, pedals, and a 180-degree surround screen! The simulators here also have motion feedback through the seat and steering wheel, which takes the experience to a WHOLE. OTHER. LEVEL. !!!
Whilst I am most definitely a car guy and a motorsports guy, I'm not what you'd call a "gamer". Therefore, I very much welcomed the excellent and kind approach the employee (Matthew, I believe?) took with me on asking about all my preferences, and working hard to guarantee a good time for me based on my skill level and comfortability with the simulator (read: novice/beginner!). I would give the customer service here an A++. Due to his excellent work, I had a fantastic time, even as a first-timer!
I was able to pick my car and track, and they were great about asking if I wanted to switch cars, tracks, or any of the other numerous preferences and customizations after different races! There were soooooo many different cars and tracks to choose from! If I had to put a guess to the amount, I'd say hundreds of cars, and dozens of tracks, on the conservative side! He told me they're adding new tracks all the time!
I was absolutely HOOKED after an hour of this, and I think getting one of these simulators shot straight to the top of my "If-I-win-the-lottery" list of things to have! It was a BLAST!!
The one thing I would strongly emphasize is that even if you don't feel like you're a gamer, or really into driving or racing, you should still give this place a try! Just like Top Golf, they've really found a way to make this activity fun for all people of all skills and all ages, even the non-speed-gifted among us! The fun factor here is...

We had 3 in our group so we decided to do the group race for an extra $10. That was a blast and well worth it. It gives you interactive headsets so you can also talk to each other. Without that you would be isolated and just racing by yourself for an hour. Sims were very nice. We tried both styles they offer. I would definitely do the three screens again. I am on the fence if I would do the more expense 6 degrees of freedom version. The machines with 3 degrees, were very fun and for a novice like myself, I think were plenty of motion. Tip: Newer cars that are built for racing are actually easier to control on sims than the old cars. The gentlemen working the counter did a great job to by the way. My only suggestion would be maybe find something for people to do while waiting for their session to start. I saw there was a pool table. Maybe consider just some old school racing arcades to keep your theme or...
ย ย ย Read moreComing from an experienced sim racer I was excited to hear about the launch of World of Racing KC. And when I visited earlier this afternoon I was blown away, the facility is amazing! With 12 simulators (2 types) to choose from there is something for everyone to try. The owner Todd and General Manager Ella were both very friendly with walking me through exactly how it all works and what to expect. World of racing KC is not only a wonderful experience for beginners interested in Sim Racing, but it is a great place to meet other experienced sim racers! Austin (my race control) was also very helpful setting up my sessions.
Overall 6 out of 5 stars for this place although it being an hour away from me I will definitely be back to World of Racing KC. And you...
