When asked where I wanted to go for my birthday I couldn’t decide then My wife reminded me there was a restaurant in Olathe I wanted to try. I remembered Raj Mahal and decided it would be a good time to try it. So we got there right around 5:00 pm a pm and the place was empty. During the pandemic that’s not unusual not everyone is ready to sit down in a restaurant yet. Once seated we ordered water and were brought small glasses. I was worried until he came back with a little pitcher and we never ran out of water! Next he brought something I don’t know what it was but he brought some mint and I believe he said tamarind sauce to dip in. No it wasn’t naan bread because he brought that with the entrees.
I ordered the Coconut Curry Chicken, my wife got the Chicken Tikka Masala and my mom is vegetarian so she got Aloo Gobhi I think. It had potatoes and cauliflower in it and all 3 were delicious! My wife and I had tried an appetizer at a different restaurant before but never tried a main course. We were so impressed and can’t wait to go back and try something different next time!
Overall I was pleased with my experience. While we were there another couple came in for dine in, I have to add the phone never stopped ringing and people came in to pick up carry-out non stop! They were busy but always made sure we had...

Got the veg pakora. Incredible.
Got the paneer makhani. I imagine that's what all the food in heaven tastes like.
Got the chicken biryani. The packaging sliced open two of my fingers, but I do not care. They could literally package this with protective razor blades around the opening and I would still order it again. Ordered it without cilantro. They left the cilantro on. And you know what? The other flavors were so amazing and strong I barely even noticed the soapy taste. It doesn't need raita, but get it anyway. Get extra. Their raita is a miracle you can eat (or drink, which I am still very tempted to do). And just when I thought it was impossible for the biryani to taste any better, the raita did just that. Mind blown.
I will be adding all the people who work at Rajmahal to my nightly prayers to ensure they stay safe, healthy, prosperous, and open for a very, very long time because I need this delicious food in my life forever.
No photos because I shoveled all this incredible food into my mouth so fast I did not have a chance to take a photo. Go try their food, and you'll...
Read moreIn humility, I have eaten at many Indian restaurants and cook Indian food as well, I know good Indian food. This is not good. It is bland, no heat, canned carrots and peas. No depth of flavor or marrying of spices. I added one more star because the RAITA WAS THE ONLY GOOD THING. That is me trying to find something good. Out of kindness. Fire the cook or teach him how to cook. Ask for what level of heat the customer wants. Roast your spices and garlic. Use peppers, seemed like you didn't even use any or roast any. Stop calling yourself Indian food until you actually bring that flavor and heat. And buddy if your gonna tell me; sorry we did not meet your expectations our cooking is from north India and may not be what your accustomed to. Don't bother. I will bump this down to 1 star if you do, not that it matters to you lol as I see now you have received many reviews stating this is not traditional Indian cooking. It isn't, it's not even close. I have eaten in Chandigarh and Hyderabad, you ain't pulling the wool...
