Update 07/19/2021: My husband just received a card from Sergio thanking him for his purchase and also referencing this review of the store. He had read my review and very graciously accepted my comments and feedback. The gesture is very much appreciated and is a great way to respond to client feedback. We will definitely visit Ketterman’s again, and I wish Sergio all the best!
Original review posted 06/26/2021: We were just at Ketterman’s this morning and overall had an excellent experience. We were helped by Sergio, who listened to what I was looking for and helped me find something I liked. The place is fun, with lots of beautiful jewelry but also curiosities that were fun to look at. The family owners had recently adopted two Jack Russell puppies, and since we were visiting with our kids, it was a perfect way to distract and entertain them.
The only reasons I don’t give 5 stars are for little details. First, we said our budget at the beginning of our visit, but Sergio didn’t give us any guidance about what precisely would fit within our budget. He showed us pieces that corresponded to what I was looking for, but instead of saying that perhaps our budget wasn’t high enough for what we wanted and helping us adjust our expectations, he showed us pieces that were higher than our price range. When I saw something I liked, I was surprised to realize how far over our budget I had strayed! Luckily, we found something I liked that, though higher than our budget, wasn’t out of our price range.
Secondly, my husband wanted to buy a $5 birthday card to go with the gift. Sergio accidentally neglected to ring the card up with the jewelry item, and when he realized, he asked my husband for his card again and went and rang it up separately. Now, of course we were happy to pay for the card. However, having worked in retail before, I think that would have been a perfect time to really cement a good relationship with the customer by including the card with the purchase. I believe Sergio is not a manager or owner of the store, so he may not have felt able to make that decision. But in similar circumstances, I have quickly asked my manager to approve (or not) my idea. It’s a small detail, but it is such a nice gesture and is always appreciated.
All in all, though, this was a very pleasant shopping experience. It was for several special occasions we are marking this year, and I was very happy to patronize a locally- and family-owned store with such a wide and beautiful selection. Sergio was lovely, and I mean to make this a go-to for repairs and other purchases. Their baptism selection was precious!
Edited to add that Sergio offered to clean the earrings I wore into the store, which was a...
Read moreKetterman's has been a long standing jeweler in Leesburg and truly a part of the town...《hence the bronzed bench with one of the brothers that is part of historic downtown》My loving husband purchased a necklace for me and sadly it just wasn't my vibe. Ketterman's has a "no return" policy--clearly posted in writing--but they give FULL credit on account with verified purchase. I personally like this. My spouse obviously wanted to gift me with something from Ketterman's and upon return, had I not found something that brought me joy, a credit goes into our account and awaits future use. When you shop with them an account is set up with your name, address and what you purchased. This is wonderful because when the receipt gets misplaced--as it did in this instance-- price paid and credit amount given on account was all resolved just by giving our name. The store offers a range of finds. Shop for high end jewelry, good quality everyday wear jewelry, collection jewelry such as PANDORA and absolute unique homegoods and gifts. There is a price point for all shoppers and your recipient will 100% feel that "time taken" to shop for something special feel. Gift wrapping is...
Read moreI absolutely love ❤️ this family owned store. They go out of their way. Always pleasant and patient. I've converted a few people from other stores. I have a dangerous habit of collecting jewelry. On trips I always buy a momento or two. My daughter got married in Pensacola on the beach October 4th. Couldn't find a jewelry store anywhere and we were busy anyway. Long story short I came home and ordered a pavé sand dollar as my momento piece. Had to justify why there. That's where their wedding rings came from! Had to order in yellow gold so I'll wait until December. I have a good collection of sand dollars in yellow. They had white already made but I had bought a very nice 18k pavéd white gold disk from the Caulkin's sale and wore that to the wedding. That's my eclipse piece. Hey why not. She gets all of it anyway. We did very well at that sale.
Again these folks are wonderful. Watched them growing up on tv with their commercials. I only found them because they were the only jeweler I could find who sized silver rings. And I wasn't going to Tiffany's. That was in the mid 90's I...
