La Villa Roma Restaurant & Pizzeria — Restaurant in Leesburg

I have been eating here for over 25 years and always thought they made the very best Meatball and Cheese subs. It has been several months since I previously had one of these subs ( that was always consistently great), and last week I got a craving for one when I was in town. Imagine my disappointment to find it had changed drastically. I ordered a Large Meatball and Cheese Sub for $14.50. When it was served I immediately noticed the Roll was different and though toasted as usual, it was kind of deflated looking. That’s because inside there basically were only 3 meatballs that were cut in Half and spread across the length of the roll. There was very little cheese on it and scant sauce (but you do get a small container of extra sauce for dipping - as usual). This sub used to have a much better roll that set it apart, and most especially Whole Meatballs with plenty of cheese. What Happened ??? Now it is just sub- par- especially for the price! I wouldn’t have minded the price if I felt I was getting a good value with the way they used to make this sub. This has been an excellent and well established family business from the beginning, so it was Incredibly disappointing to see this change in quality on this particular favorite of mine! I love their pizza. It’s always amazing, but the manager wasn’t really engaging and smiling much. I wanted to order a personal pizza half and half, but they told me they don’t do half an half, which I thought was a little absurd. Lots of pizza places do half and half. Even Pizza Hut does half and half on personal pan pizzas. The personal pizza from La Villa Roma is a little bigger. I might have ordered it before, but I honestly don’t remember. I might have ordered half and half in a small size. But still, I feel the manager is lying to me and doesn’t wanna give the customers what they want. The customer is always right, but I don’t treat the workers like garbage. They say they don’t do half and half on personal pizzas because they say it’s too small and other customers complain about how it’s cut. I don’t believe that for one second. The pizza is amazing, but the policies on half and half on a personal pizza is very absurd. The manager needs to be more friendly. He was not being very professional. Called in an order that included a veggie calzone ($7.79). I asked if I could get the veggie calzone without olives as was told sure, no problem. Had my wife pick up the order on her way home. When she arrived home, i looked at the receipt, and saw that I had been overcharged Rather than charge me $7.79 for the veggie calzone, they charged me $8.36 for the veggie clazone because they charged me for every individual topping since I asked for no olives.

Now, $0.63 (w/ the extra tax) isn't really worth getting bent out of shape over, even though it was an underhanded way to get a few extra cents on their part. What is worth getting bent out of shape over is the response I got when I called. I called and explained the situation to the woman on the phone and after stating that I wanted the difference refunded she put me on hold for a manager. The "manager" answered and I explained the situation again. His response "What's the issue?"
