My sister and I went in on Friday April 12 to get pedicures and gel x nails. I am only giving 2 stars because we came in with no appointments and were serviced fairly quickly.
I will say that this will be our first and last time visiting this nail salon as we were thoroughly disappointed with the service and the outcome that we left with.
I had Linn T. do my gel x nails and as somebody who has been getting their nails done for 7-8 years now I have a specific look of nails that I think suits my rather small and petite hands. I showed Linn an inspiration picture (which I have attached, picture #6) and she agreed to do them. Linn was very kind and amicable up until I noticed she had placed my right middle finger tip on VERY crooked and I asked her to fix it. (I would also like to note that they sat another customer down at Linnās table before she had even finished gluing on my tips) She immediately got frustrated and said āitās fine it will be okay when i file the nails,ā I said okay and she continued on. After the tips she asked what shape I would like and I said almond as seen in the inspiration picture. She then started to file the tips and for some reason was leaving the tip of the nails flat and not round like the almond shape so I had asked her to round out the tips a little more and then she huffed and rounded them out a lot, giving the nails a very oval shape. The nails were now super chunky and very round so I asked her to please slim the sides of the nail and give them a rounded point. She then said āIām very tired, Iām pregnantā and then got a little loud with me as she said āThatās what I did in the first place (which is not true, she was giving them a weird coffin shape) and you said to round them out so I did, I did what you want.ā I got very flustered and told her I understand being tired as I too have been pregnant and I even apologized for the misunderstanding. She continued to huff and went back to filing. It took a little while but we got to the shape that I originally asked for (kind of) and showed her and then she started applying the base coat. I noticed it was very sheer (I knew I wanted a thin french tip and I thought she did too as I showed her a picture) and so I asked her if we could do 2-3 coats of the base so my natural nail would not show through. She interrupted me before I could finish my sentence and said āIts fine because I am going to cover it.ā I didnāt quite understand what she meant by that but I didnt want to irritate her further as she was already quite hostile at this point. (I would like to note that the receptionist came back to our table maybe 2-3 times since they had sat the other customer down and I could tell she was asking Linn what was taking so long and they ended up having to move her to be serviced by someone else as we were not even halfway through my nails) Then when we got to drawing on the french tips Linn drew them halfway down my nail (not at all similar to the inspo pic) and the top of the french tip curves were all super wonky and uncentered with the tip of the nail. By this point I was super frustrated and ready to leave and I looked back at my sister in desperation. I asked Linn to fix them and once again she was angry. She said that if I wanted the french tip thin then my natural nail would show through (which I tried to avoid previously) and I was so frustrated I just said to do it thin. I kept having to ask her to thin out the sides of the french tip and straighten out the lines but at some point I gave up. I was so displeased that I even told my sister that I wanted to have Linn take the nails off completely.
And for the pedicure, it was not relaxing and not what I paid for. I got the European pedicure with gel polish but I didnt get my cuticles trimmed, the heel scrub was literally just a pumice stone scrubbed across my heel once, and the 18 minute massage was more like 5 minutes of rubbing my legs like the tech was rubbing lotion in.
All in all, my sister and I had super high hopes as this salon is rated #1 in San Diego but it was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo, I never write reviews let alone bad ones but this bothered me enough to write one for this place. This was my second time coming here. Both had an appointment, my first appointment I had to wait about 30 mins,m. I thought oh no big deal they are really busy. I just move on from it. This second time the appointment worked and I got in right away, awesome. The lady who did my pedicure was great, she was through and got my hang nails which is my favorite part. The lady who did my dip nails was ok, but she left me looking like the photo. Messy and not cleaned up. My finger tips were still dirty from the black dip. No massage(I could do with or without) but no cuticle trimming or softening basically zero prep work happened usually there is some sort of preparation of the nails and skin. I wasnāt please with this and would hope this isnāt their standard.(see photos). When I talked to the lady at the desk and told her I wasnāt happy with it she went to talk to the lady who did them and said my skin around the nails were dry and she suggest I just scrub it off⦠excuse me but this is not my fault. They offered to fix it but they shouldnāt have to fix it because she should have done it better. I said Iāll go home and fix my manicure that Iām paying you for. I know my nails are short but I always have had short nails, this has never been a problem until now and I get my nails done every 3 weeks. I just moved and Iām trying to find a good nail salon and this aināt it. They only offered $5 off after they blamed me for this. Iāll move on from this but they need to do better, we are paying for a service donāt make it half assed and expect us to tuck our tails and be on our marry way. I hope it doesnāt happen to someone else. It looks like I did my nails at homeā¦
I guess next time I have to prep my nails at home before I go in⦠so my skin isnāt dry and this happens⦠Donāt really recommend this place, the first time the nails were great but had to wait 30mins with an appointment. This time the nails...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe only reason why Iām posting this, is because your business need a little āpolishā on customer service. I original walked-in just to remove a gel polish from my toes, and once I sat, I asked if I could actually just get a full-on regular pedicure/no gel instead. The lady confirmed it, and asked someone else to do it - no problem. At the beginning she asked me if I wanted gel and I said no, just regular. I pointed at the menu again showing the āclassicā, at that point the front desk came to translate saying it would be $5 more for the gel removal, no problem. I notice people had complimentary drinks and got excited to get some bubblies, but no one offered me even tap water. After it was done, I went to pay and got charged for an āEuropeanā pedicureā¦ā¦.yea, no, I asked for the classic, and I asked 2 different people. Everyone just looking at each other like āwhat nowā and Iām firmly saying I wonāt pay for their mistake. Meanwhile, someone that seemed to be management, came rudely explain there was a miscommunication while I was feeling on the spot for a mistake that wasnāt mine, I interrupted her to defend myself and got met with āif you just let me finish what I was sayingā and said something along the lines of āyou received a European service, but since it was the nail techs mistake you can just pay for the classic, but this is her last oneā ā now I donāt know if she meant the nail tech wonāt be working anymore, or if Iām not welcomed anymore, but either way, NEVER AGAIN. I still asked for the nail techās venmo to send her a tip, even though she didnāt own up to her mistake, and the management lady acted completely standoffish when I was leaving.
Btwā¦.. the $10 difference they wanted to charge me was for SEA SALT.
Iām pretty sure Iāve been to this place in 2020, after just moving here, I guess I just didnāt realize due the remodeling. But the experience back then was really bad too, not customer service, but...
