Part of the one star rating is my fault. When asked if I wanted full frame on the 5x7 pictures I was having made from 40 year old negatives I said yes- but full frame is actually the picture and all the negative space. Full frame is not the picture itself. I now need to take the photos received from this camera shop to Target and crop them so 5x7 is only all the picture. I also am not sure I got the same 40 year old negatives back. These negatives seem smaller and are all of one size. What I learned is it is best to only bring one negative and do one picture, and if you like the results then come back with all of your negatives. I spent $70 for 12 photos that need to be re-cropped by me at Target photo counter to make photos I can actually display properly in a 5x7 frame, cause these photos I paid for are not displayable. The paper the picture is on is 5x7, but the picture itself is quite a bit smaller. So full frame is not what you would want to get. Have them define full frame for you if...
Read moreIn today's environment Fine Art Photo is the last bastion of brick and mortar stores with highly knowledgeable owner and staff. I recently discovered this photography gem and had a very informative conversation with Gary. I was doing my due diligence with researching upgrading my gear but my choice took a hard right after the conversation. Looking at dslr Gary educated me on the changes from where I stepped away from photography to now. Low and behold his explanation directed me to the newer mirror less camera. He explained the cost was a bit less but technology was much more than what I was originally looking for. Well, I bought the mirror less canon and just recently purchased a monster Tamron lens. They helped sooo much and actually the conversations with both Gary and Becky, I got more excited about photography than I've been in a while. Sure, you can get camera gear from box stores but you can't get the in depth knowledge and detailed assistance that Fine Art Photo...
Read moreEdit: I mean come on, look at the owners response to my review. I up the star count, 6/5. Always rooting for yall.
5/5 because I love local camera stores and want them all to stay open.
However. Here is my experience. I take film in, they develop, timely, communicate when it's done. Perfect. I didn't bring my flash drive in and ask to take the scans (of which they put on a cd) on my flash drive (a little clunky but fine). I go to Staples, Walmart, local library to find a CD reader, as none of our work laptops have them anymore. I have a friend with one, so I'm driving to their house to take the pictures off the CD to put it on my flash drive.
I love this store. And if yall are reading this, please let me set you up with a Google drive. Then I can ship you film and you can develop it, and email me the scanned pictures and I can pay...
