HeliNY chooses to fly at 200 ft above sea level over dense cities. This shakes the buildings on the ground, and makes parts of NJ feel like a war zone, while endangering the passengers and the city dwellers. (This is not a reflection of the NYC helicopter business in general, but a direct issue with THIS heli service and the choices they make for their flights).
When a helicopter flies at 200 ft altitude and something goes wrong, your pilot has a few seconds to try and find a safe landing site. A flat, obstacle free landing site is hard to find in a dense area, so your helicopter will most likely crash into a building. If HeliNY chose to fly their helicopters at an appropriate and safe distance, they wouldn't risk your death. But they can save a few seconds and some fuel by putting your life at risk.

Read moreWhat an exciting tour! We booked a flight departing 7:30pm from Linden municipal airport to see the New York City evening skyline. The helicopters (Eurocopter/Airbus) are spacious with good view from all seats. We enjoyed the trip, the pilot answered many questions and it was great fun. I took so many amazing pictures. Weather was good, and it was a very smooth flight. We even flew over the active Newark International airfield. We booked at Viator, and the following communication with Helicopter Flight Services Inc. was good, with prompt responses (we where not sure if we can start due to bad weather forecast). We took the train from NY Penn Station to Linden Station (ca. 35 mins) and a complementary shuttle transfer was provided to the small airport. Best value for many - and we felt very safe from...
Read moreI booked a flight for two people from Linden at 12:00 p.m. on September 14. However, the day before, I was informed that the flight would be canceled due to an insufficient number of passengers. I was told that I could either change to a flight later that evening, reschedule for another day, or cancel and receive a refund. Since we are coming from Boston, we requested a refund, but a $20 fee was charged. On the website where I made the reservation, it stated that flights could be canceled due to weather conditions, but there was no mention that flights could be canceled if the number of passengers was insufficient. In fact, I originally tried to book with Heliflights, but since September 14 was already sold out, I booked with...
