Inconsistent! Just about the Only thing they were mediocre doing was their Tableside Guac. The rest was below standard. It went from having them preparing your Guacamole Tableside with two whole guacamoles to 1 and a half, then only one and, now it is served frozen from the kitchen freezer. For the foremost part, the waitstaff is pleasant but also there is lack of consistency in their serving protocols. We were being sat at the dark side of the tables next to a party of 5-6 (what kind of COVID distancing would that be considered?), and after neglecting this table we were then, sat at the front entrance of the kitchen on a table with a burned lightbulb which, obviously, wasn't cleaned following COVID guidelines and this was very much obvious because there was food residue there. Nevertheless, we stood there just watching as the bulk of the staff walked around as if they didn't understand the reasoning behind Covid face masking as they walked around in and out of the kitchen without their mask or placed it like a souvenir to their forehead and/or chin. The Purelling of the hands wasn't evident as thorough hand washing is definitely not part of their repoitaire since there were no hand sanitizer either. To make matters absolutely worse, (thank goodness not our waiter), but there was this waiter with not only extremely long hair but also messy, long facial hair that was delivering the patrons food dishes with his hair hitting the dishes he was carrying. Without a doubt, it was more than obvious that he, if at all cleans his hands,it would be far in between. Previous Covid, management made it a point to visit all tables to ensure the quality of service. While the manager did make a cameo appearance 2-3 times in the restaurant, not once did he check up on any of the patrons. Hence, Needless to say: Matters at this facility have gone from bad to worse. Unlike me, it takes alot for my wife to be disappointed but she assured me that this would be our last visit. By all means, I want to contribute to the success of my local businesses but the Reality is that at these Covid Times businesses have to Step Up and Realize that Consistency and following protocols not only Saves Lives but their...
Read moreI came here June 27th to enjoy some margaritas and eat some food with the hubby. I always come here but the last 2 times has been really off, but the last time was the worst. I'm really not a person to complain (my last review for this place was 4*'S) but i'm just going to honestly describe my experience and I hope management takes note. We get there at about 9:50 pm and get seated promptly. First thing I notice is the table is super sticky (as others have mentioned in their reviews). Waiter comes and asked us our order we order just fine. While we wait no one gives us the chips we always get so we ask for some cause we are super hungry. My wings come out first and they were pretty tasty. My hubby waits for his order. Our drinks took a while to come out but when we got them I noticed it was more large ice blocks than margarita. The drinks did give me a little buzz but i had to get 3 and usually 1 1/2 used to do it even in happy hour (i'm petite 5'2, insert pic of drink). I finish all the wings by myself and my hubby still doesn't have his food (this is 25 to 30 minutes after I finish). After finally finding the waiter he said he forgot to pick it up because he's busy (restaurant was almost empty. Inserted pic) for us and made us wait another 13 minutes for the food. My hubby finally gets his food, finishes, I order desert and no one has picked up the chips, my hubbys plate nor my plate of wings. The table looks like a hot mess (inserted pic)Now the desert....I got the fried oreo ice cream. The ice cream inside was good but the fried part was very chewy. Like chewing on paper. I'm not sure if they pre prep and they put the batter on the outside of the ice cream and freeze it, then take it out the freezer when someone orders and fry it then? If that's the way then it makes the fried part very hard and almost sharp. Supposed to take out the already frozen ball of ice cream, put batter and then fry. Well it's time for our check and we finally find our waiter...and we wait another 15 minutes for the check. We end up leaving 11:40. The only reason we didn't get more impatient was because my hubby was watching the game. Guys, please work on some stuff, i really like...
Read moreWhere to begin. If you go out to eat often enough, I'm going to ask you to think about the quality of service. More importantly think about how your servers attitude was. Sure they may have been pleasant but could you say that they were actually happy to be doing their job. In this day and age when all you hear about is that no one wants to work anymore and all of these places are struggling to find employees how amazing is it when you find someone that's truly engaged in their job. That is exactly what I experienced at Chevys. Our server was Brian. He is an absolute asset to Chevy's. He was so friendly and so nice, thoughtful, and intuitive. I wish every store I visited had someone like him working there. As far as the food: Some of you who read this may have some fun memories of places like Chi Chi's, a restaurant that heavily focused on Mexican cuisine. Well let me remind you all that Chevy's exists. There was a Chevy years ago in Staten Island which I know I've been to several times but I really didn't remember the food that well. In any case I found myself in Linden and decided to stop in. It had been years like I said and I originally thought I'd have something simple like a quesadilla. Then I noticed that they have a Chimichanga. I hadn't had one in quite along time so as soon as I saw it on the menu I knew I was ordering one. It was awesome. They cover their Chimichangas in QUESO!!! I love queso who doesn't. Anyway it was really good. Overall I had a great experience and the place had a great vibe to it. The bar was crowded with many patrons enjoying Thursday night Football and Baseball. I will definitely be returning and trying out other menu items. It good to know that there's still what I'd call a classic Mexican restaurant. Although the menu definitely has plenty of more modern choices too. Brian was worth every bit of the 60%...
