To be honest when i first came to colorado i was searching for the same experience I had back home in joliet. The first bad encounter with this school was when the first academic adviser told me to wait 6 months to apply because then i would be considered a resident. I thought that was a bit strange but no matter i took his word for it and waited. Than 6 months later another person told me to wait 1 year confirming what i originally believed. So after a year I come to financial aid expecting to get help like with my last school which helped me get the most funding i needed, I instead got some rude, gut twisting lady who won''t look me in the eye. Her voice came off as if this job and my life was beneath her.. I asked for her (since i live almost an hour away) to tell me what i needed ahead of time so i could get all my paper work with done. She told me that everything was already in motion and i should just sign up for my classes. NOT TRUE AT ALL.. months after not receiving my award letter, I called waiting an hour on the phone to get told that i needed several other things... One piece of paper work gotten lost, (allegedly on purpose by the lady) another one of which was the wrong information. One trip allllll the way down town Denver stealing about 6 hours on something so simple..My mother and I waited at the IRS for one sheet of paper that apparently (according to a nicer gentlemen working in the same department) they could have found themselves with little effort on our part. LOVELY.... What did my tuition pay for? One amazing bio teacher, whose intelligence is far above ACC level One english teacher who treat her students like 3rd graders and whose subjects often fall flat. (she is in the wrong line of work) and a sociology teacher who loved to talk about that one time he went to china... if not he rambles on about nothing related to our subject.... I made i though this struggle. Fast forward to this year where they cannot give me a reasonable explanation as to why i'm being charged random things to my account. They cannot explain why they took money from my aid with out telling me so now i can't purchase my books. They cannot tell me why i keep coming back to this money hole of a school. but what they can tell me is that i should take another class, purchase books with money i don't have and i can have a good semester.. this money draining school not even worth the 10 minutes of time to write this review. I would encourage any place else than...
Read moreI would give 5 stars but because of the Administrationâs completely inefficient and quite frankly unjust rules that hinder my learning, I CANNOT JUSTIFY giving even 1 star. Honestly not a bad school other than the fact they wonât let me take a more difficult class because my ACT âexpiredâ on their side, it doesnât expire from the ACT side of things. Itâs completely ridiculous that two years ago I would have automatically been placed into calculus but since they wonât take an ACT score after 5 years I have to start over. I scored a 31 on my ACT( 96th percentile) and just want to take a class that challenges me. I met with my advisor who is very nice but due to the administrative red tape canât do anything to override it. Records is the only one that can but I was told they wonât and you canât even meet with them you have to call them which is absurd. Also they made me pay to take a placement test when they already have something officially sent this year from the ACT that qualifies me to take calculus by multiple points. When I get bored in school I fall behind so I am actually trying to challenge myself and they made me jump through so many hoops. A significant number of things needs to change with their administration bc the professors are wonderful.
Just one easy fix would be giving your advisors the ability to override prerequisites. That would have been one viable solution. That or maybe stop making the ACT expire.
Last thing is itâs my money just let me take the class. Iâm paying you to learn not to take a class Iâve already been through. What would the point be. Itâs like when you havenât rode a bike in years but you hop on one and it all comes back pretty quick.
NOTE: Second ACT I was just going for the super score so that is why the reading and science are low. Just want to give as much...
Read moreACC is the best Community College in Colorado period. A large fraction of the teachers employed here are ex-Ivy League professors. My intro to business teacher was a top business professor at Clemson University. Most professors have PhDâs as opposed to a masterâs degree. The grading process is very fair and these professors really care about your education and will go above and beyond to see that you succeed, granted you actually seek the help this is college people the teachers most likely arenât going to come to you. There are so many different resources, including, but not limited too: Free tutors who are amazing ( in my opinion better than if you hired one), teachers who actually care about your future and present situations, book store/school supplies store on campus, a cafe with Caribou coffee, a milkshake machine and other great snacks, there are plenty of different areas to do school work or study that are very comfortable and convenient, they have hundreds if not thousands of majors and minors to choose from you want it, theyâve got it and so much more. Arapahoe Community College is by far the greatest her in Colorado. It is not overly priced the tuition rates are so great basically you can receive an Ivy League education for 10-15k per year. Itâs an amazing way to save money especially when you are planning to go to a big university. Better to spend 10-15k on required pre- requisite classes, AKA GenEd rather than 25-75k. And since ACC has such amazingly qualified professors you wonât be behind , or unable to transfer successfully to a 4-year university, you will be able to make a smooth transition. Go to Arapahoe Community College; itâs for your own good. Thanks you wonât regret itđ
