I recently visited The Egg House in Lombard, Illinois, on a bustling Sunday morning. Nestled on a corner, the establishment initially appeared small from the outside but pleasantly surprised with its decent size once we stepped in. Despite the crowd, we managed to secure a table promptly.
Upon entering, we indulged in some regular coffee while admiring the tasteful decor. However, it was disappointing to note that the cleanliness of the washrooms did not match the overall ambiance of the place.
For our breakfast selections, my wife opted for the Shamrock Benedict, an Irish-style dish featuring homemade corned beef hash, while I chose the Hungry Jack Omelette, loaded with a delicious combination of ham, bacon, broccoli, peppers, onions, mushrooms, and tomatoes, topped with Swiss cheese. Additionally, I couldn't resist upgrading to the Caramelized Apple Stuffed French Toast, generously stuffed with cream cheese.
The food truly stole the show. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Shamrock Benedict, while I found the omelette to be exceptionally satisfying. However, it was the Caramelized Apple Stuffed French Toast that emerged as the star of our breakfast experience. The perfect balance of sweetness combined with the decadent cream cheese filling made it an unforgettable indulgence.
Moreover, our dining experience was further elevated by the excellent service provided by our server, an older lady who was both amiable and efficient. She was attentive to our needs, regularly refilling our coffee cups without intruding on our meal.
Overall, our visit to The Egg House was a pleasant one. Despite the minor setback of the washroom cleanliness, the delicious food, cozy ambiance, and attentive service made for a satisfying breakfast outing. If you find yourself in Lombard, Illinois, craving a hearty breakfast, The Egg House is certainly...
Read moreWe called on a sunny Saturday at 11 am and were told that there was no wait time (we should’ve known just by this that the restaurant isn’t all the hype that the reviews make it to be). The ambiance and decor was nice - it’s a cute and cozy spot. We were given a table right when we entered. We ordered the stuffed French toast, which in fact is NOT stuffed. It’s just regular French toast with a cream cheese drizzle so the name is definitely misleading and disappointing. We were charged $2 each for the banana and strawberry topping but we only got like 10 slices of each fruit on the French toast. One full banana at the grocery store costs about $25 cents but they’re charging $2 for 1/3 of a banana and $2 for 2 strawberries. The food in general was VERY average tasting. You can find better options in the Lombard area. The French toast wasn’t very sweet - it tasted like bread was lightly battered in egg. They also charge $3.50 just for plain scrambled egg whites, which was a side. The coffee was just straight up brewed black coffee but they charge $3 per cup. You can get lattes and cappuccinos for this price at other local cafes and restaurants. I wouldn’t come here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The waitress was very nice and the service was...
Read moreJust happened to run into this breakfast spot and I am glad I did. The food was out of this world, fresh, tasty and full of flavor!! I got the Chicken and Waffles Deluxe which had a chipotle infused maple syrup, some bacon bits and this delicious aioli 🤤🤤. The chicken breast was seasoned to perfection and wasn’t pounded too thin. The wifey had a chorizo sausage skillet that was just too much to finish, but was nicely made.
Their service was quick, helpful and gave the table great recommendations, ask for Heather, she’s fantastic. The owner and chef, Tony, can be seen whipping up these wonderful creations and checking on the quality of the food that was served.
The restaurant sits on a busy corner, but has their own dedicated parking lot, which is located in the back. If you take public transportation, the Lombard Metra station is directly across the street. The tables, floors, and menus were all clean. They had some soft music playing, but you can hear the kitchen working, something I prefer over music, gives you an inside view of how they run the place.
I will be coming here again, telling everyone that will listen to my voice that this place is legit. Run to this place before it comes on everyone’s radar so you can say you had it before it...
