Petco's side gig is Vetco. This is a "low-cost" pet vaccination clinic that Petco frequently hosts. "Low cost" is stated on the website and passed on by the staff who answer the phone. A specific fee was not available from the staff member, but I was assured it was "Low cost." Encouraged to book an appointment to ensure my pet would be vaccinated, I booked an appointment. I arrived 10 minutes early, only to stand in line until 15 minutes past my appointment. The delay was due to an overly friendly Vecto staff member who engaged in prolonged conversation with everyone, and most of the topics had nothing to do with vaccination. I learned more about one person's life from such a conversation than I know about most of my family members, and far more than I cared to learn. I considered buying the staff member an address book so she could note these people's contact information and call them later, you know, after work. After checking in I sat on a hard metal chair for another 10 minutes until it was my turn. The quick exam and vaccination took no more than 10 minutes. It was all over close to a half hour after the appointment I had set. The "low cost" part is nonsense, poppycock, and not true! The cost was higher than the vet I use, and higher than what a friend pays at her vet. . My response's to Petco/Vetco's reply:
My post was not "Reaching out" as much as it was for others seeking your service and partially detailing my experience. You asked for my contact information to further assist me and to address my concerns; however, I need no assistance, and I hope "my concerns," as I noted in my post, are for the benefit of those seeking vaccinations for their pet. I was not the only person in the queue for pet vaccinations. From their comments to me, they shared my sentiments: the person handling intake was more involved in everyday conversation when she could have kept the line moving. The conversation she had with one man elicited information that had nothing to do with his pet and more to do with his brother and his brother's animals. He even spoke of his aches and pains. I didn't need to hear this; I was there to have my pet vaccinated. My suggestion is to be friendly, but not to the point of carrying on an unnecessary conversation that others might not wish to hear, and if you advertise as "Low Cost," make it less expensive...
Read moreI took my dog to the groomers and had his nails trimmed, had his ears cleaned, and flea medicine application. The groomer was very helpful and took care of my dog while I waited. The groomer gets 5 stars.
Now for the store itself, the employee that was working in the dog section was not helpful at all. I had my dog with me, I was interested in purchasing a dog collar for my dog. I asked the employee if I could measure my dog's neck, I wanted to do this since my dog was getting a little overwhelmed in the store from the sounds and other dogs and did not want to stress him out more by trying on different collars. The employee then said he did not have a tape measure to measure my dog's neck and the metal tape measure would not work. Common sense would be a cloth tape to measure the dogs neck. I then purchased several items at check out, the clerk had my drivers license and then forgot to give it back to me. This happened around 4:30pm in the afternoon. It took until the next day for someone who was bright enough to call me back by looking up my name in the computer system to get my phone number. I was driving around without my license all that day. I then had to drive back to this location which is 25 miles each way to get my license due to the clerk leaving it on his register. Needless to say after all that happened I will never go back...
