The Train That Never Stopped
Leo had always taken the 11:45 PM train home from work. It was never crowded, never late. But one night, something felt… different. The train pulled into the station as usual, but when he stepped inside, the doors shut behind him with an eerie finality. The usual hum of the engine was absent. The air felt thick, charged.
He looked around. The train was empty—no conductor, no passengers. Outside, the city lights blurred past, faster than usual, as if the train was speeding up. He pulled out his phone. No signal.
Minutes passed. Then an hour. But the train never slowed, never announced the next stop. Panic crept in. He pressed the emergency stop button—nothing. He banged on the doors, but they wouldn’t budge. The windows no longer showed the city, only endless darkness streaked with light.
And then, the overhead speakers crackled to life.

“You boarded this train at 11:45 PM. But this train doesn’t stop for those who have unfinished business.”
A memory flashed through his mind—his mother’s last voicemail, unheard. The apology he never made to his best friend. The dream he abandoned years ago.
The train wasn’t taking him home.
It was taking him somewhere he needed to go.
Leo sank into a seat, heart pounding. The overhead lights flickered. The darkness outside began to shift. He didn’t know where he was going, but one thing was certain:
