I recently arranged a medical repatriation for my client from the United States, flying a doctor and nurse from their home country to Los Angeles. The entire transfer cost over $100,000, and the patient—who is unable to walk—was accompanied by medical staff and a guardian while resting briefly in the lounge before their long flight.
To ensure their comfort and well-being until the very last moment, I purchased an airport ticket solely to accompany them to the gate. I politely requested access to the oneworld lounge for just 15 minutes, clearly stating I would not consume any food or drinks. I simply wanted to spend a few quiet moments with my client—someone in a very vulnerable condition—before departure.
Unfortunately, the front desk staff denied this request without any room for consideration. While I understand rules exist, I believe there should be room for discretion in exceptional medical situations. This rigid response, even in the face of compassion and context, was deeply disheartening.
As someone who often arranges high-value international travel, including, I am genuinely reconsidering the use of oneworld services going forward. I urge the company to reflect on how its staff can be better empowered to show empathy and flexibility, especially in cases involving serious health...
Read moreThis was my first experience using the oneworld Alliance lounge at LAX, accessible with my British Airways business class ticket. Having previously used one of the excellent British Airways lounges in London Heathrow’s Terminal 5, I naturally compared the two. One thing that stood out immediately was that this lounge is shared among several oneworld carriers, which I hadn’t realized beforehand.
The lounge itself is spacious, with a wide variety of seating options and ample room to relax. Amenities include clean restrooms, showers, and standard offerings like self-serve coffee, tea, and soft drinks. The food is buffet-style with limited options, and while it’s convenient, it’s not particularly memorable. There is a full-service bar available, though it’s fairly standard.
The lounge staff were friendly and professional, and the space was kept clean, even during high-traffic periods. However, the overall design and decor feel a bit dated compared to newer lounges. While it may not match the luxury of the Delta One Lounge or some of the upgraded oneworld facilities in other airports, it’s still a comfortable and quieter alternative to waiting at the gate. Hopefully, future updates will bring it closer to the premium experience expected from major...
Read moreThe oneworld Alliance Lounge offers a truly pleasant experience. It’s beautifully designed—elegant yet cozy—with a calm and quiet atmosphere that makes relaxing easy. The seating is exceptionally comfortable, perfect for unwinding before a flight. We were impressed by the excellent selection of spirits and the friendly, attentive service. While the food was decent, it didn’t quite match the quality of the drinks or the ambiance. Still, everything felt clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully arranged. The lounge’s location was ideal for us, just a short walk to our gate, which made the entire airport experience smoother. Overall, a great place to recharge before departure. Highly...
