I’m a producer working on a network show recently moved to Los Angeles. I’ve been looking into switching over to Tesla from my polstar for a while. Test drove one in San Francisco a few months ago, but due to some family emergencies I put off getting a car until I moved and just kept the one that I have. I was very excited to make the move to Tesla. I and was scheduled for an overnight test drive. I had done one before a few months ago without any problems. I walked into my scheduled appointment, there were two guys working one Asian one Latino took one look at me up and down, which I wasn’t dressed any bad way just a hoodie and some jeans coming from after long 12 hour shoot day . I had a few things to take care of in the city that night, so I thought it would be a perfect time for my drive and would see how well it fits into my schedule, especially while shooting this project. The guy made up some excuse before even asking my name looking for my reservation, then he started talking about how I need to have personal insurance when I told him I have a company car and insurance and it’s the same car/ insurance I’ve had when I did my last test drive. He says I know, but we have to be strict because someone stole the car from us and, blah blah blah something that has nothing to do with me. he then goes on to tell me how overnight test drives are a privilege, that can be up to their discretion. I could tell by how he sized me up that he had made up his mind about me before I even opened my mouth as soon as I walked into the show room . Not trying to play the race card but don’t know if it’s because I’m black… but they’re definitely was something more to it than what was being told . You can just tell from peoples energy and the guy didn’t go through and look at my insurance even though I asked him if he wanted to review it and see my coverage and if this ride would be covered because I have full coverage, but he refused…. now all of a sudden it’s oh we don’t want you to steal our car. I’ve heard about discriminatory and racist policies that Tesla has had before with its own employees, but never thought as a customer going into buy a car that I would be subjected to it as well… the sad thing is, I probably will still get my car, but I doubt I will go back to this location based on how it was handled and just the ick that I felt from the situation… The worst part about this is my sales representative from the bay area Is the one who suggested I come to this location to get my car and do my drive schedule the test drive for me :( I understand policy, but linking your policy and saying directly to me about someone else stealing the car and making it like that’s going to be my situation was very distasteful and completely unprofessional. If you asked me, they could have looked at my insurance treated me like a potential customer and they would’ve earned my But it’s clear to see that they didn’t feel like I was worthy of theirs. I’m sure this post will just fall on deaf ears, but hey, welcome...
Read moreI would give a negative rating if I could on this Tesla location. I felt that the staff was pressuring to make sales and after you purchase one they don't provide good customers service, especially when things go WRONG!
I did a trade-in with my previous lease car to purchase a model 3. I paid the fee to get out of my previous lease contract and to Trade-In. However, Tesla did not process the trade-in paper work nor notified my previous auto finance carrier, updating that Tesla is the new owner and responsible for the remaining pay off balance.
It has been over 2 months and no support from Telsa or any supervisor. I call the customer service but can't get a hold of the manager or anyone in charge of this URGENT issue. There is no supervisor at the sales room and the sales person is basically a messenger between me and the manager at Tesla HQ. I gets no detail response other than "they are working on it". A simple fix is to process the trade-in signed paperwork as agreed and notify my previous auto finance carrier about the pay off date.
I still receive payments for my previous car and their collection dept., calling me daily. My credit score is being ruined as each day passes. Tesla still doesn't respond and delays the problem/error that they have caused! Tesla has caused mental and financial stress to me personally during Covid time. I have to daily follow up as I feel ignored with no clear explanation or update from them.
Basically, as of now, Tesla took the trade-in fee and I have no way to confirm when the title of ownership will be changed.
I am trying to search for lawyers and contacting the BBB to direct me how to legally file a lawsuit for this situation and to get restitution.
This is the WORST car buying experience in my life! And Tesla offering a contactless car buying / trade-in as much as possible for better experience is a FAILURE! When something goes wrong there is no one to actually help on the spot. You only get the run around and all the Tesla staff and on the phone doesn't really help.
Update: after 3 months, I was able to get a hold of a person handling this enormous mess. The person finally said that Tesla sent out a pay-off check to my previous car finance company and that it will take a week to clear. I asked why this happened. He said that Tesla did send a pay off money once the car was traded in but the check never got delivered by the delivery courier. If Tesla is all about technology, you would think they would do an electronic payment rather than old school mail courier? It is faster and safer than using a mail service to deliver a large amount check! To me I feel that was a weak excuse and someone basically messed up and they just won't admit it. Either way, I will not recommend this Tesla location nor will I buy another...
Read moreI don't generally write reviews but I thought this experience at the Century City Tesla store deserves my comment. On October 11, 2021 I called the Tesla Century City store to test drive a Y because I was thinking of getting an EV car for the first time. I met Mr. Will who was very nice to allow me to drive the Model 3 with the faster motor because there was not a Y car available with that same performance option. I loved the drive and came back to the showroom after my test drive and Will mentioned that if I give a $250 deposit for a Y vehicle with the performance option I can cancel any time up to the date of delivery. Therefore I give Will my debit card and left the showroom. After getting home I logged into the Tesla website to see if my order was placed and I notice that the $250 was non refundable. That got me upset because I was never advised of that policy and reached out to Will via text message asking him to cancel my order after a day or two because I changed my mind. I never received a call back from Will after numerous text messages as well as a phone call to Soko on 10/18/21 to complain,. As of today, 11/10/21 I never heard back from anyone at Tesla. Therefore my suggestion is to be careful when you make your deposit and be sure to question the fact that your deposit in non refundable. I therefore lost confidence in the way the Century City store is managed and I would stay away from them for...
