I paid for a 3 seater Z couch to West Coast Modern LA during Covid 2020-21. Which would excuse some of these complaints somewhat. The color vinyl choices were limited. We picked our favorite. I requested the back cushions be made 2-3 inches higher bc we are tall family and my parent had a house full of MCM. I did this by text and email. They never clarified that the bottom cushions were not reversible due to being vinyl in their Etsy ad or in communication. After settling on a color we wanted it was also discontinued. Then told this vinyl material can’t be shipped due Covid. Had sold our couch. We went round and round on the same color searches. The samples photos were confusing and had fat fingers pointing with nail polish that covered the samples. It was frustrating and distracting. Again we are looking at photos and it was discontinued. We finally picked one by default. The couch was delivered by a man that flipped the couch to show the frame top and underneath etc. It looked fine so we accepted. We did not inspect it with a magnifier. I measured back cushions and we’re not higher as I requested. The bottom ones were not reversible. I requested new ones and at first told they would replace all. I thought that if this is so I could choose another color. After numerous searches we settled for the old color. Then they said would only remake make the back cushions higher. I reminded them by email and texts for another year and they ghosted me. We rarely sat on the couch or entertain. We both don’t sit there bc both have recliners. We had a friend come over in 2022 and sat on the couch and it collapsed. He weighed about 240lbs 6ft. My husband connected the arm and couch back together. About 2 weeks later our son 6 ft 220lbs and 4yr 30lbs granddaughter sat and the couch and it collapsed again. Husband flipped it over and a nail had split. It was not properly or accurately nailed. We contacted West Coast complaining of ghosting and this new compromise. They only offered to make the back cushions higher. My engineer mechanic-husband knew said he could repair it after they declined to do it. Now we are stuck with a flawed impaired couch frame and can’t sell as gently used couch that it is. Our $1300 couch is worth about $300 if I want a replacement couch. We are very disappointed in their inept lackadaisical service and quality control carpenters frame...
Read moreOrdered a custom made couch with West Coast on May 2022. Delivery was smooth, the couch was beautiful, and quality seemed fine in the beginning.
However, 2 years later, the couch collapsed while we were sitting on it. The screw attaching one of the legs had snapped in half. Keep in mind I have no children or pets, and the couch was only gently used for watching TV.
I asked West Coast for another set of legs (which they sent) and replaced the broken leg, but a few months later the couch collapsed again while we were sitting on it. This time, the screw on the other leg snapped in half.
Frustrated, I paid a professional to come and replace both screws in both legs with an industrial strength screws. However, a few days later, the couch collapsed again, this time the leg split entirely half (with the screw intact).
I paid again for a professional to replace the legs entirely with new legs, and within a few days the couch collapsed again and the leg got split again.
I called West Coast to let them know about the poor build quality and they offered very little help. They have zero warranty if you're not local, so be aware of that. They offered to help find a professional in my area if I emailed them, but then ghosted me when I followed up.
I've spent over $500 in professionals trying to fix the legs with no avail. I've had no choice but to sell my couch because its no longer safe after having it collapse 4 times in the span of 2 months.
Also, most of the buttons have popped off the couch at this point, even with gentle use.
They make beautiful couches no doubt, but when you're paying a few thousand for a custom couch you expect it to be higher quality and hold up for a little longer. If you want it, buy it to look...
Read moreDO NOT order from this shop. The couch I purchased never arrived.
I ordered a sofa in early February 2022 with expected delivery of early April 2022. End of March, Luis contacts me saying the sofa is ready to ship.
He said it was picked up by a shipping agent at the beginning of April. Luis did not provide a tracking number once it was picked up by that agent.
By mid April, the couch had not arrived. 3rd week in April, I contacted Luis and he said the shipping agent did not have any foreseeable plans of dropping off my couch, even though they had apparently picked it up from his shop in Los Angeles 3 weeks prior.
I wasted months on this and Luis wasn't even interested in trying to figure out what happened with the shipping agent. No effort made to coordinate a new shipping agent, call me to discuss other options, etc.
Utterly disappointed and a complete waste of my time. I'm now back to square one with finding a new couch where other companies have even longer lead times. I should have gone with a different company from...
