Since moving to the area in 2016, I've used this Kroger location a time or two a month. It's not the closest to my house, and it's not the best Kroger in the general area; I end up here if I happen to be in the neighborhood and realize that I need a couple-few things. (Sometimes, even then, I'll just keep going or even brave the always-busy Walmart up the street.)
Today, I finally had it with this Kroger and will not be returning.
I made the mistake of thinking that I could set up a store pickup for a small grocery order (sixty-something dollars' worth of stuff). Placing the order in the Kroger app went well. Scheduling did, too; my original pickup window was between four and five p.m.
A little after three p.m., I got a text message stating that the store was unable to meet the delivery window, and that I would get a phone call when my order was ready.
"Okay," I thought. "So I'll go to the store a little bit later."
Before I got off work at 4:30, I received a second text saying that my order would be ready to pick up between five and six p.m. Perfect! I could hang out with my wife after she got home, then go get our groceries.
I arrived at the pick-up location a little after 5:30 p.m. and checked in using the app, giving the lane number that I'd pulled into.
Several minutes later, a Kroger employee came out to ask for my last name. She disappeared for several more minutes. I assumed she was getting my stuff.
Nope. She reappeared to ask my surname again. When I gave it to her, she let me know that a) they didn't have my order ready yet, and b) she would call me when they did. She also said that I should have been told that there was a delay. I replied that I had been told and, after that, received this second pick-up time. She said that "a lot" of people had been told that, and repeated that she would call me when my order was ready.
While I waited for that promised phone call (or text message, or push notification--I'm not picky), I picked up a few items at Walmart up the street. Mostly, however, I window shopped/browsed, which ended up taking a solid hour.
No phone call.
I ran up the street to the gas station to run that errand.
Still no phone call.
Out of errands to run, and not wanting to sit around in the Kroger parking lot waiting for them to finish putting together my order, I went back to the pick-up area and checked in a second time. My intention was to tell the employee that I'd like to reschedule for the next day. That would put this Kroger out of my way--my Saturday errands are going to be in a different part of the city--but I really couldn't hang around all night waiting for my stuff.
Ten minutes passed. I was about to call the posted number to ask if the check-in had gone through when an employee did come out--with my order.
How long had my frozen stuff been sitting outside of a freezer? What happened to that phone call I was told, twice, that I'd receive when my order was ready? Why didn't I just do what I did last time and have a successful, no-hassle grocery pickup at the nearby Wally World?
All told, an errand that should have taken just a few minutes ended up taking hours.
And on top of all that, I made the mistake of adding produce to my order. I know better. This Kroger's fruits and veggies are gross. The bag of potatoes I unloaded after I got home? Rotten. The bag was even leaking that disgusting rotten-potato juice.
If you can't get to the Walmart up the street, pay a different supermarket to deliver groceries to you. Avoid this Kroger. IF you actually get your groceries, don't count on all of them being edible. Unless you like your potatoes to come already liquefied for ease of...
Read moreI have been using their clicklist for around the last 5 months. I find Clicklist the next best thing to sliced bread. Not because i am lazy, or incompetent, but because anything that kept me out of that Kroger, was a God send. In the past 5 months, Iâve only had about 4 bad experiences. Which is truly astonishing considering i has yet to have a pleasant experience inside the store. I place my order online, it (like it always does) comes out of my account, i pick a time that i would like to pick up said order (i chose 4-5), this meaning i could arrive at any time between the hours of 4pm and 5pm to pick it up. I get a phone call from Kroger at 4:15 (15 minutes after the time that i can arrive) staying that they would not have my order ready until closer to 530. I call them, and i say i am perfectly fine with waiting until 530 as long as you can promise me that it will be ready if i come at that time. I was told âwell, it probably wonât be ready at 530. It will be ready by 6â. Instead of asking âwhy did you say 530 then?!!!â I just simply said okay, great i will be there at 6. I arrive at 6pm. I call and they say okay we will be right out! I wait 15 minutes, nothing. I call back and was told âsorry i was just about to call you, itâs going to be at least another 30 minutes.â By then i am raging, not because i am impatient, but because i was lied to 3 different times. Once being the email confirmation reminding me to pick my order up between 4 and 5, second being that i could pick them up at 530, and third being that they will be right out, KNOWING the order wasnât ready when i placed the call 15 minutes prior. I could not wait in line, as i had prior engagements that had to be met by 7, which wouldnât have given me enough time to go home and put them away. So i told them to cancel the order. I was told that the order was cancelled and that the money ($160) would be immediately put back on my card. (4th lie) I called on my way home to speak to the manager, whom i was finally directed to after holding for another 15 minutes. I explained the situation and she said âIâm going to make it right and i will personally get your order and deliver it to you myself!â (Which would have been fine because my fiancĂ© was home) So i said thank you Pam, i really do appreciate that. She said i will call you back in a minute once i go find your order. (Lie number 5) So i play the waiting game... yet again, for an hour. 60 minutes i waited to call back. So i call back, i get transferred to Pam again, who then informs me that the order was cancelled so there is no way for them to pull it up and get the order together, but that she would give me $5 off my next order for the troubles. Five. Dollars. I took a deep breath and said okay, well when can i expect my refund back to my card? She said i will transfer you over to Clicklist to speak with them. Passing the buck. Clicklist then tells me the order had not been cancelled yet (6th lie) and that i should get my refund tomorrow. That was the end of the phone call.
At this point, i am so frustrated with Kroger that i cannot even see straight. Itâs not the money. Itâs not a matter of not having my groceries. Itâs a matter of being lied to 6 different times, and still nothing resolved. So now i sit and wait... (again) to get my grocery money back, just so i can take my business elsewhere because there is no way i can ever step foot in another Kroger again after this...
