As of today I only have one tattoo, which was done at Tru Colorz. I got it about two weeks before my 18th birthday and, if I'm being 100% honest, I was pretty terrified. I had done my research and knew what I wanted, but was still a little unsure of the whole thing. I had called some other places to figure up pricing, and someone texted me the phone number of someone here (I apologize, I do not remember his name). I texted him and explained the gist of what I wanted, and he gave me a price that was significantly lower than anywhere else I had talked to. I came in a little later in the day so that my mom could sign the paper saying that it was okay (two weeks from 18 does not qualify as 18) and was pretty concerned about the whole experience when we got there. The walls were bright green and there was super loud music playing and the portfolio we looked through had pictures of tattoos that did not look like my tiny little cross. I went back a couple of hours after that with my sister to actually get the tattoo and - to my pleasant surprise - kept finding things that calmed my fears. I don't know what I was expecting, but I watched as he made sure everything was clean and organized, that he had everything ready before he started, etc. I was extremely pleased with how long he took making sure that everything on the design was exactly how I wanted it - before he had even started the tattoo itself. He got out a ruler and a protractor and sang along to the music while he worked. He was so friendly and welcoming, and the longer I was there the more comfortable I was. After I left the shop my family went on a road trip way out of town. This being my first tattoo and me not having any clue what was "normal," I texted him a picture of my tattoo and asked if it was supposed to look like that. He reassured me and told me to put coconut oil on it. I'm sure that to someone who is reading this review who has several tattoos or doesn't have any but is fearless about the process, the whole story seems a bit excessive. But the whole thing is something that I would absolutely recommend.
When people ask me about my little inner-wrist cross tattoo, and when they have time to listen, I tell them this story and do my best to point them in this direction. Very...

I came in for a cover up of a tattoo that was supposed to be a mountain range with watercolors. The initial artist (in TX) messed up in so many ways.
Joe (@inkyfinger13) took the time to talk with me about what I wanted to do. Traded info, and made an appointment. Before I was even in the chair, he took the time to check in with me, we had to adjust scheduling, but he was great about communicating and working with me. Then on the day in his chair was just an overall fantastic experience: Environment: NICEST shop I've ever walked into! Everyone was kind and conversational, the music was rock- per usual, but it wasn't yelling in my face. Pre- Tattoo: Joe and I spent like 30-45 mins just clarifying that we were on the same page. This was the FIRST time I didn't have to over explain my idea, and I felt like my ideas were understood. He drew up what he was thinking and it was like heaven to see this piece that had made me cringe for over 2 years to finally look the way I wanted. I got so excited I almost cried lol Tattoo: Joe has a super steady hand, has good conversation, and doesn't mind my probing because I'm curious and I also was a little worried because of the previous artist, but Joe was patient and explained everything he was doing for me, which helped calm my nerves, and helped me see things I hadn't considered. He's a PRO Post- Tattoo: Joe turned this piece into my absolute favorite. He knows EXACTLY what he's doing color-wise. He gets color theory, and he knows how that applies to the skin, and I will DEFINITELY be coming back for my touch ups (I trust him to touch up my other tattoos too!) We briefly went over care, and I left feeling SO much better than I had in years.
If you are even CONSIDERING this shop- go in person. Just MEET the great crew over here. Tell them the girl with the Blue Mountains sent ya! ;)
BTW- I was not paid AT ALL to post this---...
