Village Inn — Restaurant in Loveland

Beware if your heart is set on and you're planning on eating Friday's (all you can eat) deep fried cod special. It's special is adverstised as being available from 5 PM to 9 PM. However, cod fish supply is limited. It was not a shocking surprise to our party, as a friend had warned, "special is available during advertised window, or restaurant runs out of fish". I was hoping if it's special is adverstised as available from 5 PM to 9 PM, that it would still be available at 6:30 PM, when we were seated, for my birthday /family get together dinner. Wrong. An interesting fact, would be what time the restaurant historically runs out of their Friday supply of deep fried cod special. I wonder how many customers arrive and are seated at restaurant with expectation of eating deep fried cod, only to be advised, sorry, we're all out, less than half way through the advertised window of availability? My suggestion, if you heart is set on Friday's deep fried cod, and restaurant doesn't share empirical history of the special's actual availability, arrive prior to 5 PM, and have your order placed when special becomes available. Three of our party ordered the deep fried whitefish entrée, in lieu of cod. It was good, but I think I'd prefer the cod. I was disappointed. Our waitress was a sweetheart, and we appreciated her...

This restaurant has been a landmark in this city and in my life from childhood to adulthood. I have fond memories of family outings and picking up delicious pies for special occasions. The pies are still delicious, everything else has gone downhill. In the last year I've come to Village Inn about 6 times and each time has been infuriating and disappointing. The managers are laid back and uncaring. I have been sat at a table and then ignored for almost an hour before someone came to ask if I would like something to drink. This happened twice, once when I was dining alone and once when I was with a group. The last time I came to get a pickup order I was one of 3 customers. The other two were seated, dining in, there were 5 waitstaff that I saw, just sitting or talking to each other except for one girl who was waiting on the two customers already seated. On Friday, Nov. 18, terrible dinner, service was even worse. You would think a simple order for the chicken tenders dinner and a bowl of soup would be no problem - WRONG! When the food was finally served - after sitting on the service tray for several minutes while another table was served - the soup was tepid, the broccoli with the tenders was stone cold, and the fries, soggy. The server did not bother to provide silverware so we sat waiting while the food got even colder while she found some. She had to be asked twice for ketchup, and didn't bring it for half the meal. Then when my husband asked for more water, she took the pitcher to four other tables before finally bringing it to us. We finished quickly, then waited, waited, waited for a check that never came - while we watched her clear dishes from three other tables where people had left.
