My wife and I came here for dinner. She has a severe dairy allergy, which she was very verbal about upon ordering her BLT, as she usually is whenever we go out to eat. We’d eaten there before, but couldn’t remember which type of bread was safe for her to eat. They brought us the box and assured us that their bread was dairy free and that she would have a dairy free BLT. We got home and began to eat our food. A few bites in, my wife realized that they had put cheese on her sandwich, a very clear and obvious dairy product. Needless to say she had a terrible allergic reaction…
We called Silver Mine to ask them to please be more aware of customers with allergies in the future. The manager I spoke to on the phone was incredibly RUDE. Telling me that is was our fault my wife had the reaction. Seriously!? He refused to apologize, raised his voice at both my wife and I and did not accept that there was a mistake on their end. And look, I get that mistakes happen. And all he needed to do was say “I’m sorry, we will be more careful next time.” But instead he chose to fight with us, and completely shatter any trust we had that this was a place worth our business.
Bottom line, allergies as a big deal, and can literally be a life or death issue for some people. I expect a restaurant to be aware of what they are serving to people who have them. And if/when an accident happens, I expect them to own up to it and simply apologize. It’s a shame, because we formally liked this place. If the manager had just apologized instead of act like a complete jerk, we probably would have continued going there. Unfortunately, they are no longer worth our business, and should not be worth...
Read moreI'm hoping the owner or manager reads this because I used to order from this place all the time.
Loveland Silvermine used to be great, now I don't even know why I order there any more. Last 3 times when I've called, somebody who sounds stoned picks up the phone and says "Hello?" to which I ask "Hi! Is this a sandwich shop??" and they answer "Yes." .......then I have to prompt the conversation with "Well, I'd like to order a couple of sandwiches please." to which they answer "Sigh. Will this be for pickup or delivery?" and that's pretty much how the call goes. It's like I have to force them to do business with me - except they always ask if I want to include a tip for the driver before they even place the order, which is completely backwards and honestly kind of rude. Also deliveries are at elast 45 minutes late, warm food shows up cold and again, when the driver arrives it feels like having to deliver a couple of sandwiches is a major inconvenience, and not even a thank you for the tip.
I just placed my last order with them. I've had it with their shitty attitude and poor service.
Edit: My last and final order with them showed up on my doorstep 30 minutes late, no knock on the door, no text, nothing, just a bag on the porch I luckily found after waiting far too long. One warm sub was cold, another large sub ordered magically became a small sub. Missing ingredients. SO...
Read moreI ordered two subs for delivery 9/24. 1.) Though specified at time of order, the delivery driver did not ring my doorbell as requested; instead they tapped lightly on the front door. I am not sure how long they knocked, as I only happened to hear it as I walked through the front room. Otherwise, I never would have known they were there.
2.) I ordered a Coeur D’Alene, which is advertised as a hot sandwich. The bread was room temperature and the meat was slightly warm, with some very cold patches. The meat was extremely overcooked (have they ever even seen roast beef before??) and dry, to the point of being leathery. There was nothing else on the sandwich. After dipping it in the au jeus (which was thankfully hot), the resulting flavor was much what I imagine dog food to taste like. I am serious. This is not hyperbole. It was disgusting.
I was warned by several people not to eat here, but it was one of the only things open late. That is about the only thing they have going for them. So, maybe if you are stoned or drunk at 2 am, you will think it is just fine.
I only gave 2 stars because the other sandwich that came, a standard cold sub, was "not disgusting"...
